Support fund for arts and crafts: one million euros out of 340 promised over three years

The government announced on Friday April 5 the launch of a fund to support artistic crafts with one million euros this year, after announcing in May that it wanted to invest 340 million over three years to better "structure , transmit and develop" these professions.

The launch of this support fund with the Heritage Foundation “is part of the national strategy in favor of artistic professions announced in May 2023 by the Minister of Culture and the Minister of Business, Tourism and Consumption” , specifies a press release from the Ministry of Business, Tourism and Consumption.

Around fifteen regional heritage restoration projects using artistic crafts have already been selected by the Heritage Foundation and will be supported in amounts of between 20.000 and 50.000 euros.

A new call for projects is open until mid-September, for restorations involving municipalities with less than 10.000 inhabitants.

In May, the government announced that it would invest 340 million euros over three years for the arts and crafts. Among its main objectives: “the promotion of artistic professions among young people and the improvement of training”.

Several measures also aimed to "stimulate vocations", including the opening of 1.000 places for 3rd year internships with craftspeople, the creation of 730 new craft activities for 15-19 year olds via the "Pass culture", or the development of discovery workshops for 35.000 young people via a network of associations, the ministry indicated in a press release.

The emphasis was also to be placed on "training in artistic professions within the reform of vocational high schools, with in particular the payment of an internship allowance during periods of in-company training", with a budget of approximately 20 million euros per year.
