By replacing 30% of the hydrocarbon binder in its products with pine oil, the facade specialist helps to conserve resources with less oil consumption, while maintaining the recognized quality of ITE Sto products. . The pine oil allowing this substitution comes from sawmill scraps and other wood transformations.
Available from February 2022, the new AimS ® range incorporates an under-plaster, a float finish plaster and a facade paint, which together constitute the first complete ITE system optimized in terms of CO2.
A range for "Building responsibly"

Faithful to its motto, Sto wishes to offer its customers, whether they are project owners, specifiers or applicators, solutions allowing them to build in a sustainable manner and in all conscience, while maintaining excellent performance and setting properties. implemented.
Quality, climate protection and resource conservation are the watchwords of the new product line developed by Sto, called AimS ® (Aim Sustainability).
With its AimS® range, Sto intends to contribute to establishing the sustainable use of environmentally friendly products and materials in the construction sector.
“To develop AimS®, our goal was: the new components should not be obtained by competing with the food industry, they should not contain ethanol or palm oil and in no way be associated with child labor. or long transport distances. With a binder based on pine oil, all these conditions are met: pine bark is a residual material produced in mass by the timber industry. It is from this raw material that we extract the oil. At the same time, its properties are comparable to those of hydrocarbon binders. In this way, we can maintain our quality standards for all AimS ® products ”, emphasizes the R&D department of the Sto group.
Why 30% pine oil?
To develop its new AimS® range, Sto did not want to compromise on quality. If the proportion of renewable raw materials were greater, the products would be less efficient and their processing properties modified.
StoTherm AimS®, the new ITE system for sustainable development
StoTherm AimS® is the first complete system consisting of multiple layers optimized for durability, which, right from the start, saves hydrocarbons.
Indeed, the base coating, the finishing coating, and even the facade paint, with its Lotus-Effect® technology, are made from renewable and widely available raw materials. The insulation, meanwhile, is the rock wool Sto-Panel, made from rock, a raw material available in abundance.
Concretely, for each project, this translates into the saving of many liters of hydrocarbons (example: 173 liters of oil saved on an apartment building for 800 m2 of facade surface). Without making any concessions, the proven processing properties and aesthetic appeal, which are the hallmarks of ITE StoTherm systems, remain unchanged. Just like their excellent properties of protection against bad weather, micro-organisms, cracks and mechanical stress.
These are the reasons why the StoTherm AimS ® system has been awarded the environmental label "Blue Angel" (Blauer Engel).
