Steel, cement and brick denounce the "dogma" of wood in RE2020

These business leaders dispute the new method adopted for the life cycle analysis (LCA) of products for construction, called LCA "dynamic and simplified" which, they claim, was "established according to empirical parameters" and "without impact study".

According to the signatories of the forum, "the government thus arbitrarily chooses parameters which in the short term benefit products with significant emissions at the end of their life (all products containing carbon such as plastics or wood)".

This new provision reflects "a dogma according to which only wood would reduce the carbon footprint," he said. "This dogma is false. It is through the complementarity of materials that we will progress ... not by pitting them against each other", they add.

"If the government persists against all logic, in imposing the simplified dynamic LCA, our industries, some deprived of 40% of their market, will have to close sites", further affirm the authors of the forum.
