A unique urban reach
At the borders of France, Germany and Switzerland, at the gates of Weil-Am-Rhein and Basel, it is along the Rhine that the “Les Jetées” project, carried by Constructa, aims to promote the city of Huningue. To create a true, emblematic river district, the crossroads of the three countries, “Les Jetées” opens the city onto the Rhine by extending the city center to the banks.
Aware of the timeliness of this site, the group of architects of which Triptyque is a part is carrying out an ambitious project to make this new district a unique, privileged place to live, as close as possible to the Rhine where we will find many housing with exceptional views, shops, offices and leisure areas.
The residential building Link, designed by the agency, forms a place with this future urban complex to reveal a new district with flexible lines, with a landscaped ambition respectful of the environment, all in a unifying spirit along the river. It will include shops on the ground floor, acting as a linear extension of the shopping city center and connecting the footbridge to Place Abbatucci.
Architectural bias
“The architectural and landscape design of the overall project was guided by three ambitions: to open Huningue to the river by creating a new relationship with water, to place the city in the Basel metropolitan area with a flagship project and to offer Huningue residents a new exceptional place to live, at the heart of the green network. Each building, while affirming its uniqueness, contributes to the realization of this city project. " Olivier Raffaëlli, Founding Partner of Triptyque Architecture
Today, work on the Link residential building has started, this new generation building with a total surface area of 4.000 m2 on 5 levels offers spacious accommodation based on innovative and high standard spaces, intended to be sold under free ownership . The first four levels of the whole form a central body surrounded by overhangs of slabs, while the R + 5 crowns the building, creating an attic.
The volumes designed by the agency are generous, exceeding traditional standards. Combined with high ceilings of 2m70, they support the modern style of this high standing residence. Along the park and the river, the building offers 44 accommodation units spread over halls with private elevator access. Most of the apartments are walk-through: the amount of light is generous, in particular thanks to the fully glazed east facade, revealing a view of the Rhine. Thanks to the exoskeleton, each apartment has a large private balcony.
“Bringing in light and multiplying the outdoor spaces was a prerequisite in the design, this premise resonates all the more today. "Guillaume Sibaud, Founding Partner of Triptyque Architecture
The building is intended to be clear and transparent, the architects thus made the choice to use light gray concrete for the grid of the oblique structural columns and the slab overhangs. The east facades, the north-west corner and the south-west corner, which are largely glazed, are made up of full-height joinery in white lacquered aluminum. Finally, the balcony dividers were designed in translucent glass, a material also used on some of the facades.
An environmental and social ambition
The housing building and the hotel imagined by Triptyque are part of a major project, both environmental and social. The landscape ambition is to include this new district in the 3Land strategy, led by the Basel Trinational Eurodistrict, which provides for the creation of a green network linking the center of Basel to Huningue. The islet hearts will mix land and water, allowing the buildings to dissolve with the river.
