Indeed, the energy transition relies heavily on the electrification of uses and the development of renewable energies. In this respect, photovoltaics offers several key advantages: competitive costs, decentralized production close to needs, and various deployment formats (rooftop, shade structure, facade, pergola, etc.).
By 2025, renewable energies will be the world's leading source of electricity, and in France, the share of solar power is growing rapidly: in 2024, PV represented 5,6% of the electricity consumed.
In this context, the facade becomes a particularly relevant support: it combines passive solar control (summer comfort, reduction of air conditioning costs) and active energy production with controlled integration costs and real architectural value.
This is precisely the ambition of SolarSlide: EHRET's brand-new photovoltaic sliding shutter that protects and generates energy. Designed for both new construction and renovation, SolarSlide combines design, functionality, and sustainability. It modulates light, preserves privacy, and improves summer comfort… all while providing usable kWh.
SolarSlide: protect, produce, enhance
Developed by EHRET with the support of the Fraunhofer ISE Institute, SolarSlide technology sets a new standard: a simple design with a strong impact. Since January 2026, EHRET France has been marketing the SolarSlide photovoltaic sliding shutter, which combines energy efficiency, solar protection, and architectural expression in a single element.
Integrated in new construction as well as renovation, SolarSlide transforms a passive shading device into an active source of electricity, serving low carbon objectives and, depending on the configuration, the transition from a low energy house to a positive energy house.
At the heart of the system, colored glass-glass modules produce usable kWh while filtering direct sunlight: reducing heat gain, controlling glare, and improving summer comfort. The architecture remains paramount: the technology, with its invisible cellular grid, becomes invisible, and the façade gains in clarity.
In terms of design, SolarSlide offers a wide range of compositional possibilities:
- 8 standard colours (black, anthracite, grey, light grey, blue, green, terracotta, gold) and custom colours on request;
- choice of finish (satin, glossy or textured);
- intermediate film for an elegant opaque finish, or without film for a semi-transparent effect letting in light and multiplying the scenographies;
- Powder-coated aluminum frames, matching the color of the modules for perfect consistency in material and color.
Technology and implementation: modules designed to last.
SolarSlide uses glass-on-glass photovoltaic modules, composed of two glass plates of the same thickness. This provides better protection against impacts and temperature variations, as both surfaces expand identically. The result is a durable structure: robustly built, easy to maintain, and designed for long-term use. In terms of materials, tempered safety glass (ESG) and powder-coated aluminum frames ensure excellent weather resistance and minimal maintenance.
As an indication, a 1 m² (1000 × 1000 mm) panel with 25 monocrystalline cells delivers approximately 141,7 Wp (without additional coating).
Two versions to suit every need:
- SolarSlide (building integration): connection to an inverter and, if necessary, a battery. Ideal for projects aiming for high energy performance and significant grid injection.
- SolarSlide Pro (plug-and-play): each panel integrates a micro-inverter. The energy produced can be used on-site and, if necessary, fed into the grid subject to applicable connection procedures.
In both versions, each leaf can reach up to 1,500 × 2,800 mm, a format compatible with the requirements of architectural facades.
The installation of SolarSlide takes place in two clearly distinct stages: the installation is carried out by specialized companies, while the electrical connection is made by qualified electricians.
During the design phase, it is advisable to integrate the indicative weight of approximately 22,6 kg/m² per leaf (excluding micro-inverter and sheet metal) into the calculation notes of the facade in order to ensure a reliable and durable design.
On the operational side, two scenarios coexist: in self-consumption without injection, all the electricity produced is consumed on site; in self-consumption with injection, the surplus can be sold or given away.
Note that a request for connection by injection is necessary, with the use of a communicating meter and, depending on the option chosen, the signing of a purchase contract or an appropriate agreement.
Day-to-day operation remains intuitive: the shutters can be operated manually on rails or motorized via remote control or push button. SolarSlide thus combines robust construction, generous sizes, and integration compliant with French requirements – whether installed without or with injection – to guarantee reliable and long-lasting operation.
With SolarSlide, EHRET reinvents the façade, transforming it into an active resource. Thanks to its highly flexible configuration (formats, colors, finishes, installation methods), durable construction quality, and advanced functionality, the system adapts to any type of building. SolarSlide allows for the utilization of previously unused surfaces and can ideally complement other rooftop installations for energy optimization.
On a daily basis, SolarSlide reduces air conditioning needs by limiting overheating, improves the aesthetics of the facade without visible technology, and produces useful kWh: electricity self-consumed, stored or injected into the network, depending on the scenarios.
The whole system helps to control energy costs and achieve the objectives of high-performance buildings, up to and including positive energy homes depending on the configuration.
For specifiers, SolarSlide provides a concrete answer to the challenges of the energy transition. For building owners, it is a high-value architectural solution, compliant with energy standards, eligible for support schemes, and capable of sustainably reducing operating costs.
Much more than a sliding shutter, SolarSlide stands out as a complete architectural element, combining solar protection, elegant design and energy production.
A unique solution for sustainable, high-performing and coherent projects.
