Schenker Stores and Myotte-Duquet: an alliance in the service of passive housing
By installing 12 VR 90 adjustable sun blinds (BSO) and 8 ZIP blinds, Schenker Stores helps to optimize the thermal regulation of the building, thus reducing the need for heating in winter and air conditioning in summer. Tailor-made know-how that meets the requirements of sustainable and efficient housing.
MYOTTE-DUQUET: 40 years of expertise in the service of wood construction
A family business based in the heart of Doubs, Myotte-Duquet has specialized in wood construction for over 40 years. With its recognized expertise, it designs and builds wooden houses, chalets and buildings that combine energy performance, durability and aesthetics.
Supported by a Design Office, the company imagines and develops tailor-made projects, in accordance with contemporary environmental and architectural requirements.
This technical support allows it to optimize each construction to guarantee maximum thermal comfort and a reduced energy footprint.
It is with this innovative approach that Myotte-Duquet designed the Bois d'Aura house, an exceptional gîte with very low energy consumption. This project perfectly illustrates the balance between tradition and modernity: a habitat that combines the love of wood and regional style with the most advanced technical solutions, including the integration of automated adjustable blinds and sunshades.
These devices play an essential role in the thermal regulation of the building, thus reinforcing its passive character and its comfort in all seasons.
BSOs for intelligent solar protection in passive houses
The 12 BSO VR 90, positioned on the ground floor, provide optimum sun protection while preserving brightness and natural ventilation. Thanks to their Z-shaped blades, they offer precise and continuous control of natural light. Made of aluminium, the 90mm wide blades are equipped with a blackout seal, guaranteeing effective blackout and efficient thermal regulation. In the closed position, they effectively block solar gain, thus contributing to a significant reduction in air conditioning requirements in the summer.
For even more efficient management, these BSOs are integrated into an intelligent smart home solution, with temperature and wind sensors allowing automatic adjustment according to the sunshine. This automation optimizes the home's low-consumption heating system. However, for greater comfort and flexibility, occupants can also customize the opening and closing of the BSOs according to their needs and preferences.
In addition, a special solution of adjustable sunshade (BSO) was implemented for the corner joinery. This innovative system combines two types of guidance: cable guidance and slide guidance. This combination allows to preserve total transparency of the sliding windows in the corners, thus ensuring a fluid and elegant aesthetic while maximizing visibility.
This “hybrid” system also has notable technical advantages. The combination of cable and slide guidance gives the BSOs increased resistance and stability in the wind.
ZIP blinds: robust, wind-resistant and completely blackout
On the upper floor of the Bois d'Aura house, intended for the bedrooms, ZIP Schenker Stores blinds were installed, equipped with "Black Out 21154" fabrics from the Mermet company. This coated and woven fabric based on glass fibers ensures complete blackout of the rooms, guaranteeing total darkness for optimal comfort day and night.
High-performance fabrics also play a key role in improving the energy balance of the home by limiting external heat gain, which helps maintain a pleasant temperature inside without consuming too much energy for air conditioning.
With this system, thermal control becomes a priority, contributing to the energy regulation of the entire house.
The proven slide system, combined with the intelligent ZIP mechanism, provides enhanced protection.
In this system, the zipper is welded to the canvas and perfectly integrated into the slide, thus ensuring exceptional resistance and optimal robustness in the face of climatic conditions, even in high winds.
For Grégory Myotte-Duquet, co-manager of the company, the adoption of these blinds is motivated by concrete advantages: « We are moving to 100% ZIP blinds for night rooms such as bedrooms, because they offer very good blackout, are very robust and less noisy in the wind than a roller shutter. They also prevent solar radiation from directly hitting the glazing. »
A strategic choice which demonstrates the desire to reconcile energy efficiency and acoustic comfort, while preserving the aesthetics of the building.
Myotte-Duquet has opted for mixed wood-aluminum and PVC-aluminum joinery,
especially for the triangular windows upstairs, equipped with high thermal performance triple glazing. These joinery elements ensure optimal insulation and contribute to the energy efficiency of the accommodation.
This achievement perfectly embodies the alliance between design, comfort and energy performance, highlighting the importance of solar protection in the thermal regulation of spaces. It demonstrates the multiple advantages that these solutions bring in terms of performance.
For Jérôme Henriot, Head of Sales Projects & Prescription Schenker Stores France: « The subtle marriage of adjustable sunshades with the warmth of wood creates a refined aesthetic. This harmony between natural light and noble materials perfectly illustrates the desire of our two companies to design modern, sustainable and environmentally friendly habitats. »
