This plant comes in parallel and in addition to another 5 GW project by Carbon in the Bouches du Rhône, covering the entire cycle of solar modules, from ingot formation with an investment of €1,5 billion. In the medium term, 10 GW of new production capacity on French territory will supplement the offer of industrial players who produce solar panels from cells imported mainly from China, already distributed over the territory, particularly in Alsace with Voltec, in Loire-Atlantique with Systovi, in Brittany with Recom-Sillia or in Ain with Dualsun... and which will be able to manufacture their panels from Holosis cells.
The relocation of solar industries in France and Europe is therefore underway. This is a decisive step for all players, for employment and for the environment. These major announcements come in a context of steady growth in solar installations in Europe (40 GW last year, 60 planned this year) and in France (2,5 GW last year, between 3 and 4 GW this year). Better, we will have to quickly reach 7 to 10 GW of new solar power plants each year to put us on the trajectory of more carbon-free electricity production. These industrial tools are both an asset and a condition for achieving these ambitious objectives.
For Daniel Bour, President of Enerplan: " That's excellent news ! The photovoltaic solar sector was waiting for industrial projects of this scale. Their realization and the support at the highest level of the State that is provided to them will considerably strengthen the French solar sector and make it independent. This announcement will certainly support the strong growth of solar energy in France, in connection with the Renewable Energy Acceleration Law. An objective of 7 to 10 GW additional per year in France makes sense. With these major industrial tools, these new jobs, we will be able to meet the challenge of large-scale solarization based on relocated production. »
