Sika launches SikaFlex Pro-11 FC® and reinvents polyurethane with Purform® technology

The Purform® technology thus makes it possible to meet new regulations such as the restriction on the level of diisocyanate present in polyurethane products, adopted in August 2020, within the framework of the REACH regulation and applicable from 2023.

A pioneer, Sika has gone further in the development of this technology with a formulation that also adds unique performance to polyurethane in terms of speed of return to service, durability and environmental impact.

Finalized at the end of 2020, the Purform® technology is already applied to the bestseller of the Sika mastic-adhesive range: Sikaflex® Pro-11 FC.

At the same time, Sika is launching its new range of sealants-adhesives made up of 6 solutions meeting all the specialties of bonding and jointing for professionals.

Purform® Technology for a new generation of high performance sealants

The European REACH regulation, which entered into force in 2007, aims to improve the protection of human health and the environment against the risks associated with chemicals. As part of this regulation, a new restriction was adopted on diisocyanates on August 4, 2020, and published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

This restriction requires that the products concerned, including polyurethane products, have a diisocyanate content of less than 0,1% from 2023. Otherwise, professionals using these substances must receive training and obtain certification before applying. be able to use them.

To anticipate the needs of tomorrow and this new restriction of the REACH regulation, the Sika R&D department has developed the Purform® technology.

This innovation significantly reduces the content of diisocyanate in its products and adds performance to polyurethane. This results in:

• Faster return to service with improved drying time;
• Better durability with improved aging in wet or hot conditions;
• Less environmental impact with a diisocyanate rate of less than 0,1%.

This technology also retains the performance of polyurethane, namely:

• ease of application with easy extrusion, no pouring and no odor;
• good adhesion to most building materials;
• excellent resistance to tearing, abrasion and weathering;
• great flexibility and elastic recovery.

Sikaflex® Pro-11 FC: the latest generation all-in-one sealant

The first choice of professionals for demanding bonding and sealing applications, polyurethane offers the strength, flexibility and durability needed. A reference for professionals for waterproofing and bonding in construction, Sikaflex® Pro-11 FC mastic-adhesive is the first product to integrate Purform® technology.

Multi-use mastic-glue, Sikaflex® Pro-11 FC is the ideal solution for all flexible bonding, indoors and outdoors: waterproofing masonry elements, facade, roof, terrace, gluing of added elements (tiles, splashback , baseboard, smoke detector, etc.), filling cracks, sealing windows, etc.

It benefits from the performance of Purform® technology and guarantees:

• an elastic seal that adapts to temperature variations for better durability;

Sikaflex: a new professional range even more efficient

Sika unveils its new range of adhesives and sealants offering a solution for each application and responding to all the bonding and grouting specialties sought by professionals. It consists of multi-use solutions, layouts and specialties approved, certified and recognized by professionals.

Multi-purpose adhesives:

• Sikaflex® High Tack, glue offering a powerful hold without retaining band, neither nails nor screws, on many supports. It is also characterized by a high load capacity.
• Sikaflex®-112 Crystal Clear, totally transparent glue guaranteeing immediate hold and excellent adhesion to many substrates. Flexible, it absorbs vibrations. Very UV resistant, it eliminates color changes.
• SikaBond®-114 Contact, quick-setting, multi-purpose building adhesive for indoor applications. Easy to use on vertical or horizontal support, it provides immediate and powerful support (500 kg / 10 cm2). It can be fixed on many supports without additional support.

The fitting glue:

• Sikabond®- 115 Deco Fix, glue intended for the installation of decorative elements indoors or sheltered outdoors. It guarantees a durable and solid bonding on many supports and offers an immediate hold, without nails or screws.

Specialty glues:

• Sikaflex®-113 Turbo, quick-setting assembly glue offering immediate hold and excellent adhesion to glass and metal. The glued elements can be stressed after 20 minutes.
• Sikaflex®- 117 Metal Force, glue for metal parts. It ensures a powerful and fast bond with a permanent elasticity to follow the expansion of the materials. Non-corrosive for metals, it offers good resistance to natural aging, to water and seawater, to cement plasters and detergents in aqueous dispersion.

The new Sikaflex® Pro-11 FC and the new bonding range will be available in stores from mid-January 2021. To support the launch and provide good visibility, specific merchandising tools have been created. They will dress the different shelves and will make it possible to dramatize the products.
