Schöck Stacon type LD: only studs under DTA validated by the CSTB

In order to further secure the transfer of structural forces at expansion joints, CSTB has updated the standards and test assessments in force. From now on, to size the dowels, it will no longer be necessary to take account only of the loads to be taken up but also of the constructive environment. As a result, all manufacturers with a CSTB Technical Assessment saw the validity of their studs expire on December 31, 2021.

Still one step ahead of the profession, Schöck announces that its new range of Schöck Stacon® type LD studs has just obtained a DTA (Technical Application Document), number 3.1/15-817_V2, issued by the CSTB, as structural connecting elements in reinforced concrete structures. This exclusivity should very soon be accompanied by the release of new software, Scalix®, for the dimensioning of studs.

A complete, economical and safe system

The treatment of expansion joints prevents cracking of concrete and fatigue of structural reinforcement resulting from expansion due to temperature, shrinkage of concrete between two structures or long buildings.

Whether it is the infra- or the superstructure, the current solutions for mechanically linking the structures separated by an expansion joint prove to be complex to implement, expensive and sources of significant space: construction of a concrete corbel with a sliding support or realization of a double structure (double walls).

Easy to use, Schöck Stacon® type LD dowels avoid additional investments and allow structural optimization. With high mechanical resistance and ready to be implemented, they connect the adjoining construction elements of the joint, ensuring the absorption of significant shearing forces while allowing one or more degrees of freedom (axial and radial). Composed of cylindrical bars in stainless steel or galvanized steel, they guarantee quality and maintenance-free treatment of expansion joints.

A wide range of diameters and finishes for all configurations

Made-to-measure products, Schöck Stacon® type LD dowels are available in several different diameters, available in stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized steel, in order to adapt ideally to the multiple configurations encountered on construction sites, both indoors and outdoors.

Beyond being currently the only manufacturer to offer studs benefiting from a DTA, Schöck also announces the advent of a new Schöck Scalix® software, soon available for the dimensioning of Schöck Stacon® studs. The software will work on all common internet browsers and will allow you to define instantly and with relevance the most appropriate Schöck Stacon® stud references according to each case. It should be noted that this new software will also deal with the installation of thermal bridge breakers in ITE, like its counterpart Open BIM Schöck which already does it for breakers dedicated to ITI.
