Scheduled end of gas boilers: the FFB denounces the government's reversals

Worse: a government amendment to the finance bill is reportedly in preparation to exclude gas boilers from the scope of VAT at 5,5% and subject them to the rate of 20%. Their eligibility for the eco-PTZ would also be threatened.

The FFB points out that, in certain cases, no alternative is possible, particularly for housing in rural areas, in high altitude areas, in co-ownership or in subdivisions. However, the installation of a very high energy performance gas boiler (THPE) to replace old equipment allows average energy savings of 30% and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of the same order.

Removing any form of financial aid for this equipment amounts to destroying the purchasing power of households and slowing down the achievement of our climate objectives through pure dogmatism, even though gas was clearly favored a few years ago in the new with the RT2012 and that its greening is underway with green gas produced in France.

For Olivier Salleron, president of the FFB: “the ecological transition is too important to be driven with great force. We cannot, without danger for businesses and employment, suddenly block today what we encouraged people to do yesterday. Only a long-term policy will allow industry and businesses to make the necessary human and financial investments. »
