The Saint-Gobain building materials group, which has been involved in a reorganization of its activities for several months, announced a few days ago that it had sold to the BigMat group two distribution brands in Spain, where it had already separated from two others. distribution activities.
Saint-Gobain, which sold the French brand Lapeyre in the spring because it was too focused on individuals, finalized the sale of La Plataforma de la Construccion, the Spanish counterpart of La Plateforme du bâtiment, to the construction materials trader BigMat, according to a press release.
In addition, the brand specializing in tiles and sanitary ware, Discesur, is sold to the investment group Jorge Fernandez, in partnership with Group Terrapilar.
With 16 points of sale and nearly 700 employees, these two brands achieved a turnover of around 140 million euros in 2020.
In mid-February, Saint-Gobain finalized in Spain the sale of Sanigrif, distributor of plumbing, sanitary and heating products, as well as that of Saniplast in the distribution of materials for civil engineering works.
"These transactions are part of Saint-Gobain's strategy to continue optimizing the portfolio, aimed at improving the group's growth and profitability profile," according to the group's press release.
