Saint-Gobain inaugurates the world's first detached house entirely made of 3D printed concrete

Saint-Gobain, through its Dutch subsidiary Saint-Gobain Weber Beamix, has developed special high-tech mortars that can be used in 3D printing, and has developed the printing technique in collaboration with Witteveen + Bos, a consulting and engineering company. . Other project partners are construction company Van Wijnen, institutional investor Vesteda, Eindhoven University of Technology and the municipality of Eindhoven.

The construction method

The rock shape of the house perfectly illustrates the freedom of form that 3D printing offers in construction. Covering an area of ​​94 square meters, it is made up of 24 concrete elements, printed layer by layer in the factory, which were transported by truck to the site for assembly. Thanks to high-performance insulation, the house is particularly energy efficient and provides more comfort to its occupants.

The next houses

This house is part of a program of five houses that will be built one after the other, so that each new achievement can be optimized by the lessons learned from the previous ones.
