The facade is a major element to take into account during renovation works, as it reflects and reveals the personality of the building. The facade coverings, through the choice of materials and colors, contribute to the integration of the landscape while bringing a unique side to each building. These aesthetic choices made within the framework of energy rehabilitation also constitute an opportunity to meet national and European regulatory requirements in terms of thermal and environmental performance: control heating costs, limit energy poverty and thus act in favor of significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
As part of its rehabilitation by the companies Chanel and Soriev - with the installation of a thermal insulation system from the outside, the Roger Poisson residence benefits from rock wool solutions and the Rockcycle materials recycling service. by ROCKWOOL.
On the SACVL's rehabilitation sites, special attention is now paid to the recycling of materials: by limiting final or energy-recovered waste, the use of insulating materials that can be recycled indefinitely contributes to the circular economy. This is the case with the rock wool solutions that were used on this residential site.
“By partnering with ISO 14001 certified suppliers, the SACVL underlines its desire to work with companies with strong requirements for continuous improvement in terms of energy performance, waste management and preservation of natural resources. "
Christophe DEGRAVE, Deputy Director of the Heritage Department of the SACVL
Respect for the environment and occupant safety
This environmentally friendly rehabilitation is also linked to issues related to building safety. The guarantee that the safety of the occupants would not be impacted motivated the choice of ROCKWOOL rock wool insulating materials, incombustible by nature.
"This is a choice of materials which makes it possible to control, on the one hand, the risks associated with the construction phase (storage of insulation at the foot of the building) and, on the other hand, the risk of fire. facade over the entire life of the Thermal Insulation from the outside ”. Christophe DEGRAVE, Deputy Director of the Heritage Department of the SACVL
The implementation of the REVITHERM EP LDR system from the PPG Seigneurie company on the facade, combining rock wool insulation and fire-retardant plasters, scrupulously respects the latest most demanding fire resistance standards.
Durability and dimensional stability associated with material recycling
As durability is an essential concept for the long-term management of a residence, insulation made of 97% basalt makes it possible to avoid any fungal proliferation. As for the thin coating-on-insulation system implemented (which is the subject of a valid certification), it makes it possible to estimate a durability of more than twenty years, subject to maintenance (ETE and DTA certificates validated by CSTB).
“Dimensional stability, fire and mold have already proven their worth on previous SACVL projects. It is therefore quite natural that we reissued this choice, adding the Rockcycle materials recycling program to meet the environmental emergency ”
Christophe DEGRAVE, Deputy Director of the Heritage Department of the SACVL
Concretely, with Rockcycle, companies sort out scraps of wool, polyethylene packaging and wooden pallets recovered on construction sites in Big Bags. These offcuts are then re-injected on ROCKWOOL's production lines and transformed into products. Polyethylene packaging is recycled and wooden pallets, for their part, are repaired, if necessary, and even reused. It is the possibility of combining the quality of realization and ecology.
“The very essence of our profession consists in renovating buildings to guarantee their aesthetics, energy performance and sustainability. It is therefore essential for us to be an actor in the various processes made available by our suppliers, such as the Rockcycle recycling service from ROCKWOOL. "
Nathan DEJERT, Construction Supervisor at Chanel
Local resources implemented on this site
On this Lyon rehabilitation operation, all the stakeholders - project management, companies, are local actors and partners. The materials used come from France and more particularly from the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region, where ROCKWOOL France has housed its historic site in Saint-Éloy-les-Mines for 40 years, which makes it possible to limit logistics flows.
The expertise and know-how of local companies associated with the quality of regional recyclable materials allow this project to fully satisfy the contracting authority by combining local and environmental resources, recyclability, passive fire protection and sustainability. .
