Rockwool launches Rockterrace, the first rock wool insulation for accessible roof terraces

Beyond its aesthetic benefit and its essential role in improving the comfort of homes, the development of roof terraces can help reduce the impact of urban heat islands, by reducing thermal bridges and contributing to the re-vegetation of cities. A major issue at a time when the summer of 2023 has been classified as the 4th hottest since 1900, according to Météo-France.

Rockterrace: reduction of losses and valorization of spaces

Made from rock wool, the Rockterrace solution has very good mechanical strength and is very easy to implement. Its rapid installation, up to 300 mm in a single bed, offers ease of handling and considerable time savings on construction sites. Lighter, Rockterrace is perfectly suited to technical and accessible roof terraces. Its excellent behavior in water provides additional safety for spaces particularly exposed to bad weather.

By securing a terrace roof, Rockterrace helps to make a new space available for a range of applications: inaccessible or accessible roof, with gravel or green protection. Adaptable to concrete and wooden supports, Rockterrace reduces the risk of losses.

Rockterrace: fire safety and thermal comfort of roof terraces

Made of rock wool, the Rockterrace solution offers optimal safety against fire. Indeed, rock wool is naturally non-combustible, resists temperatures above 1.000°C and provides very good protection against fire risks.

Thanks to the high density of rock wool, ROCKWOOL solutions are more resistant to air flow and heat flow. Installed on the roof terraces of buildings, Rockterrace naturally preserves coolness in summer and heat in winter, and contributes to excellent thermal comfort for their occupants. Its dimensional stability ensures a reduction in thermal bridges and makes it a reliable and durable solution with good performance over time of the waterproofing membrane.

Rockterrace: sustainability and recyclability

Made from volcanic rock, one of the most abundant raw materials on the planet, ROCKWOOL rock wool has a lifespan of more than 65 years without losing its thermal performance and can be recycled endlessly. Longevity which guarantees quality insulation throughout the lifespan of the building.

Finally, ROCKWOOL products contain up to 75% non-virgin material and can be recycled using the Rockcycle service. Offered for more than ten years in France, this ROCKWOOL service makes it possible to collect and recycle waste and/or construction site scraps to make new insulation. Rockcycle has thus made it possible to collect and recycle more than 2.000 tonnes of rock wool on the French market, during the year 2023.
