The project, designed and managed by the architect group AU 12 Architecture, the consulting, design and urban engineering group NR Conseil, and the city of Evry-Courcouronnes, was to construct new buildings for students . The objective was to offer a modern student residence participating in the attractiveness of the city where more than 30.000 learners attend the University of Evry.
From this ambition were born 243 housing units, a shared study room, a laundry room and a gym. The latter are now very friendly spaces, facilitating exchanges between students. The demolition and construction work for the new building lasted just under a year and was delivered in August 2021. The building is divided into two distinct towers linked by a central terrace.
For the envelope of these two towers, the architect naturally turned to PRISMO gold zinc from RHEINZINK, to offer aesthetic and quality solutions. The PRISMO gold attracts attention while blending naturally into the landscape and its pigmented colored surface at the same time offers protection in various climates and environmental influences. Its quality, durability and great malleability made it possible to envelop part of this student residence.
The installation of 8 tonnes of PRISMO gold zinc in 0,70 mm thickness was carried out using the angular joint technique. This technique has several advantages such as the variable design thanks to different lengths and widths of trays and different laying directions, adaptation to rounded and/or curved surfaces, the possibility of obtaining pre-profiled trays and construction profiles from a single and same supplier
In order to bring out a pure white volume, gold PRISMO zinc was not placed on the whole building but only on three of its facades. This choice seemed obvious to reinforce the contemporary architecture desired by all the actors.
