Between November 2021 and March 2022, the reference consumer price index for the most modest households increased by 2,65%. In accordance with the law, the level of the minimum wage will increase by the same proportion, i.e. by 2,65% on May 1. It will thus amount to 1645,58 euros gross.
Over one year (from May 2021 to May 2022), the minimum wage will therefore have increased by 5,9%, i.e. 91 euros gross per month (72 euros net); it will have gone from 1230,60 euros to 1302,64 euros net.
In France, the purchasing power of workers at the minimum wage is protected by an automatic revaluation mechanism enshrined in law, which ensures that the minimum wage increases at least as fast as inflation. According to the final results of the consumer price index for March published by INSEE today, inflation excluding tobacco between November 2021 and March 2022 for households in the first quintile, i.e. the 20% of households with the most modest incomes, stands at 2,65%. With this increase, the gross hourly minimum wage will increase from 10,57 euros to 10,85 euros while the gross monthly minimum wage, for a full-time person, will increase from 1603,12 euros to 1645,58 euros.
