The Valdelia eco-organization, in charge of collecting and recycling professional furniture, is applying for the approval of this new sector, in order to promote the products and construction materials from cleaning and renovation sites, or even deconstruction, and thus offer marketers a variety of solutions.
The Valdelia eco-organization, which already manages waste collected directly on construction sites or at voluntary drop-off points, intends to transform this regulatory constraint into a growth lever for marketers, and is positioning itself as the engine of a sector that is will be done by and for professionals. All this while relying on the expertise already acquired from the building stakeholders concerned. "Valdelia is mobilized to provide a solution allowing marketers to meet not only their future obligations but above all to benefit from tailor-made services that meet both their site issues and the needs of their customers", specifies Arnaud Humbert-Droz, executive president of the eco-organization.
The eco-organization is ready for different scenarios and is preparing for them
"We are not in the infancy of the creation of this new sector", assures Arnaud Humbert Droz. “We have been thinking about it and preparing the ground since 2018 following the publication of the Roadmap for the Circular Economy (FREC) which already established the principle of creating new sectors with Extended Producer Responsibility. Since then, work has been carried out in relation to the stakeholders (unions, marketers, professional organizations, etc.) and we are now ready and operational for January 1, 2022 ”, He continues.
Indeed, Valdelia benefits from a hindsight and a solid experience of more than 8 years in the management of an EPR sector. Its proven know-how as an eco-organization, its ability to control collection, sorting and recycling operations, while guaranteeing complete traceability of the flow of end-of-life products, reinforce its conviction to offer its services to suppliers. on the market.
Operation based on a successful service experience
Last March, Ademe published a preliminary study of the REP sector Construction products and materials in the building sector. The deposit of inert waste is estimated at around 30.000 kt per year, that of non-inert hazardous waste at 9.700 kt. In terms of site waste collection, the estimated volumes amount to 33 Mt per year on site and 9 Mt per year in voluntary drop-off points. The rate of separate collection of materials, currently estimated at 60%, could drop from 62% (according to projections) in 2022 to 77% in 2027 thanks to the efforts made by participants in the future sector, estimates Ademe.
The eco-organization would be a trusted third party directing collection, sorting and recycling, through contracts signed between it and the operators. This modus operandi is already the one adopted by Valdelia in the furniture waste sector (DEA).
