On the program for the next 12 months: thermal insulation from the outside, renovation and rehabilitation of 477 balconies. In total, 3 m² of facades will be treated in refurbishment and 000 m² in EIT. The thermal resistance targeted by this renovation is R = 2 m².K / W.
At Le Touquet Paris Plage, in Pas-de-Calais, the “Le Président” residence is about to benefit from a major facelift. Located on the coast, on the edge of the sea, this historic building of the seaside resort built in the 70s regularly suffers the onslaught of rain, wind, sand, salt and spray. The result: its facades are put to the test and deteriorate more quickly than in ordinary circumstances. 10 years ago, the building underwent a first renovation with stapled and glued stones but these deteriorate very quickly. In 2017, the union council decided to plan a new renovation.
At the genesis of the project: StoVentec Glass cladding to reproduce the existing mosaic
The co-ownership then sets out to find a solution that is quick to implement and long-lasting, capable of approaching the existing mosaics in molten glass. Indeed, the Architects of the Buildings of France (ABF) want to take up certain historical codes of the seaside resort and to have at least one reminder of these mosaics. Sto's prescription service then intervenes to offer its StoVentec Glass cladding solution which offers all the required qualities: graphic flexibility as desired which allows it to reproduce any design and great durability. Three successive aesthetic choices are offered: the 3rd will be the voucher, validated by the co-ownership and the ABF.
The first idea was to reproduce the Japanese Great Wave off Kanagawa.
The second proposal, resulting from a competition of designers, one of which was supported by the StoDesign department, consisted of a color gradient. The final choice is the project imagined by the architect Pascal Morchain, at the origin of the 2st idea: a model that takes the basics of its wave design and those of the blue color gradient, the color of Le Touquet, with an impression of undulation in the horizontality and variations in height. An important aesthetic research work is carried out on the arrangement of the tiles in order to avoid a successive identical repetition.
“There was a lot of work to reassure the condominium on the relevance of the StoVentec Glass system, the latter having been a little scalded by the previous renovation. It took a lot of teaching and demonstrating that this solution combined all the qualities in terms of glazing, durability and guarantee over time, enamelling, screen printing, durability of the gluing and peripheral protection (gluing). We put together a technical file which was submitted to the APAVE control office to validate our complete system on the seafront, taking into account the risk of erosion (sand and wind projected onto the StoVentec Glass), corrosion of the rails ... Everything has been scrutinized! », Rsays Lionel Guerin, prescribing officer for the Hauts-de-France sector at Sto.
The choice of the solution, and therefore of the manufacturer, was based on prototypes. Sto proposed a solution in enamelled glass on the internal face of a window. The enameled glass on the inside of the glazing made the difference both in terms of aesthetic rendering and durability over time. With the support of the technical service, a prototype was designed: it was installed on one balconies, acting as a witness facade. Note that each panel is made-to-measure: there is no standard dimension or equal repeated cutting from balcony to balcony, due to the original design.
April 2021: start of the renovation and installation of the ITE
One of Sto's strengths is being able to offer a triple expertise in facade, that is, in addition to cladding, solutions for renovation and ITE. Starting in February 2021, the site should last one year. After the removal of the existing in February 2021, the site has entered its first phase: since the beginning of April 2021 and for about 6 months, several operations will be carried out simultaneously, over the 216 meters in length and the 11 floors of the building.
The company specializing in energy renovation, ECO-Isolateurs Pro, subcontracted to the general contractor Cabre, is currently working on the preparation of substrates, the rehabilitation of concrete and decontamination to remove existing paint layers. To do this, the company has chosen to use Sto-Décap Protect, a stripper that acts in depth while being very respectful of the applicators and the environment.
At the same time, thermal insulation from the outside will be retained on the gables and the loggias, so as to improve the energy performance of the residence. The gables will be insulated using the StoTherm Mineral 1 system, using non-flammable mono-density rock wool panels as insulation Sto-Panel Mineral (λ of 0,036 W / mK) to guarantee the good fire resistance of this R + building. 11. The panels will be wedged-dowels and mechanically fixed by dowels to the concrete support. StoLevell Uni thin hydraulic undercoat, a rigging and masking product, will be applied directly to the insulation panels. The finish will then be provided by a fire-retardant StoSilco K 1,5 sandstone coating, based on micro-siloxane resins in aqueous phase , applied with a float, in a sky blue color, always respecting the codes of Le Touquet. In the back of balconies, to avoid too much influence of the insulating complex and offer maximum space savings, the StoTherm Mineral 1 system is replaced by StoTherm Resol. Instead of rock wool, rigid panels of phenolic foam provide insulation. The thermal conductivity λ certified by Acermi of this material is 0,022W / mK, which makes it the most efficient insulation on the market. The same thermal resistance is achieved with less insulation thickness.
The same StoSilco K 1,5 finishing plaster will also be used to restore the rest of the facades for perfect homogeneity with the parts treated with ITE. Since mid-April, the general contractor Cabre has also started the installation. work of metal frames that will be used to fix the StoVentec Glass cladding. In June, the StoVentec Glass panels will be delivered and most of the work will begin.
