The legislation regarding the renovation of an asbestos fiber cement roof involves many constraints. Removing this type of roof takes time and can quickly become burdensome from a financial point of view. To safely renovate the roof of this workshop with a controlled budget and without interrupting the company's activities, Éric Affortit, Manager of the Affortit Construction company, chose ONDUCLAIR® RENOV FC developed by ONDULINE. Designed specifically for the renovation of fiber cement roofs, this over-roofing system preserves the existing roof while significantly improving its thermal performance and waterproofing.
For Eric Affortit, Manager of the company Affortit Construction: « ONDUCLAIR® RENOV FC made it possible to renovate this complex roof with remarkable efficiency. The quality of the sheets and the ease of implementation allowed us to meet the customer's expectations in terms of durability and energy performance. Without removing the existing structure and without drilling, this ONDULINE over-roof system offers an economical and secure alternative to traditional asbestos removal. The work was able to be carried out without suspending our customer's activities and without moving the infrastructure. This represents a considerable saving in time and money. »

ONDUCLAIR® RENOV FC: A complete and economical solution for the renovation of fiber cement roofs
The ONDUCLAIR system® RENOV FC is an effective over-roofing solution that reinforces the waterproofing and insulation of the roof in strict compliance with "asbestos" legislation. The process consists of covering, without any drilling, the corrugated fiber-cement roof of buildings.
Installed on the existing panels, ONDUCLAIR® RENOV FC consists of expanded polystyrene insulation, graphite or not, which significantly improves the thermal comfort of the premises. This is then covered with custom-made corrugated polyester panels which ensure the perfect watertightness of the roof.
Specific fasteners clamp the existing fibre cement boards for perfect coverage without altering the support, reducing the risk of spreading asbestos fibres.
Available in thicknesses of 30, 50 and 80 mm and in several colours (basalt grey, anthracite grey, blue grey, red brown and light grey), ONDUCLAIR® RENOV FC blends harmoniously into the existing environment.
Combining lightness and ease of installation, this system is very quick to implement. A single installer can cover between 8 and 10 m2 per hour. In addition, its very light weight from 3 kg per m2 avoids any overload on the existing structure.
And, to ensure complete waterproofing and a perfect finish, a wide range of accessories (ridge tiles, wall connections, banks, etc.) accompanies ONDUCLAIR® RENOV FC. It is also possible to combine it with translucent plates to create skylights.
For Eric Affortit, Manager of the Affortit Construction company which carried out the installation: « The SS4 training was essential for our team. We implemented all the necessary safety measures: personal protective equipment, secure scaffolding, etc. Safety on an asbestos site is not an empty word. Thanks to ONDUCLAIR® RENOV FC, we were able to offer our client an innovative and secure solution. »
A construction site that complies with “subsection 4” (SS4) standards
Implementation of the ONDUCLAIR system® RENOV FC was carried out in strict compliance with the “subsection 4” (SS4) standards relating to work on asbestos-containing materials. The implementation steps were meticulously followed to guarantee the safety of workers and building users:
- Spraying with a surfactant to block asbestos fibers.
- Installing the lag screw fixings.
- Installation of anti-pest foam closures.
- Embedding of graphite EPS (expanded polystyrene), improving thermal insulation.
- Installation of reinforced polyester plates, made to measure and without pre-drilling, for quick and secure installation.
- Installation of finishes (edges and ridges) to ensure the watertightness and aesthetics of the roof.
