Meeting on September 28, the 25 members of the jury selected 3 winners from the 13 projects identified as the most remarkable by a committee of experts. The work of the future architects will be exhibited at the Maison de l'Architecture aux Récollets in Paris from October 15 to 25, 2024.
Faced with the difficulties encountered in Île-de-France in reconciling energy renovation and the conservation of existing buildings with strong architectural and heritage qualities, the DRIEAT and the DRAC have decided to launch a competition to allow young architecture students to express their creativity on renovation projects. Bringing together 36 teams of young people from 5 different schools, it allows the promotion of the approaches and creativity of architecture students in projects involving existing buildings, and to sustainably involve a community of Île-de-France stakeholders convinced of the need to innovate by acting on these buildings. Beyond the simple technical question of improving energy performance, it is important to show how to live tomorrow in suitable, pleasant, energy-efficient and comfortable buildings. What is already there, through its potential and its architectural and urban qualities, is a resource to be preserved as it reveals the identity of our cities to which residents are attached.
A partnership project
The DRAC and the DRIEAT organized this competition in partnership with the Regional Council of the Order of Architects of Île-de-France, Ekopolis, the CAUE of Île-de-France (Architecture, Urban Planning and Environment Councils), the ANAH (National Housing Agency), the Paris Climate Agency and Cerema, with the support of the ENSA Eco network of teachers from architecture schools involved in the ecological transition.
Following the success of the first edition, teachers were invited to register before the end of February 2024 for a second edition. 25 teaching teams from 6 different schools came forward. The students' work, submitted in July, was analyzed throughout the summer by the partners, who met on September 20 to select 13 projects, deemed the most relevant in relation to the competition criteria and exhibited at the Maison de l'Architecture.
