Rehau equips a new medical reception establishment (EAM) for people with autism

In Noisy-le-Grand, in Seine-Saint-Denis, a new accommodation center for people with disabilities will soon be inaugurated. To ensure the comfort of future patients and staff, the manufacturer has relied on the REHAU underfloor heating-cooling system.

35 young adults suffering from autism spectrum disorder will be accommodated day and night in this center which, on a total area of 2m², offers both living spaces and offices for staff. GAPAS, an association that manages 665 social and medico-social establishments and services, has entrusted the construction of its new establishment to Carré Constructeur, which has been supporting companies and associations in their projects for more than 33 years. In the context of buildings for medical purposes, the builder works in close collaboration with the supervisors in order to best meet the specific needs of future users.

A popular heating system for people suffering from this disease

"The medico-social sector requires special follow-up with the customer in the definition of the choice of materials but also of design, such as heating", explains Damien Charbonnier, operations manager at Carré Construction.

It should be known that people suffering from autism disorders may have particular reactions related to their sensitivity, and in particular to the phenomena of feeling hot and cold. "In this case, he continues, we advised GAPAS to set up a heated floor system in the living spaces which offers a less restrictive feeling than radiators, which will send back more occasional heat and perhaps more disturbing. In addition to better comfort, the surface heating system will also avoid any risk of tearing or injury compared to equipment fixed to the wall. Thanks to the distribution of the tubes over the entire floor, the feeling of heat is evenly distributed in the rooms and provides much more comfort.

Reduce energy expenditure and environmental footprint

One of Carré Constructeur's guidelines is to build sustainably for the company and also for the environment of tomorrow. “In the design of our buildings, we try to get out of fossil fuels. We are increasingly coming to offer heat pump-type solutions that will allow a reduction in the energy consumed,” adds Damien Charbonnier.

About 8,5 km of RAUTHERM pipes in PE-Xa are installed associated with 13 polymer collectors which manage the arrivals and departures of hot and cold water, all connected to a heat pump in order to heat or cool the rooms as needed. . Operating at low temperature and with excellent inertia, the REHAU system requires little energy and poses no health problems or heavy legs.

The delivery of the establishment was made in July 2022 and the opening is scheduled soon.
