Passionate and committed, employees develop, manufacture and distribute products and solutions for automobiles, construction, furniture, materials, medicine and industry with a common objective: improving the quality of life through use of innovative and sustainable technologies - Engineering progress. Enhancing lives. (Our technological advances. Your daily comfort).
Today, REHAU celebrates its 75th anniversary and, together with its employees, takes a look at the past, but above all at the future.
A family saga
In 1948 in the town of Rehau in Upper Franconia, company founder Helmut Wagner laid the foundation stone for the success story of the same name, when he started with two men and one machine, to replace traditional materials with polymers. By relying on the values of trust, reliability and innovation, he has created a successful industrial company.
In 1958, REHAU extruded the first polymer window profile and the first magnetic seal system for refrigerator doors.
In 1962, REHAU established itself in France and in 1965 created its first factory in Morhange of 41.000m2.
In 1969, REHAU launched its first range of PVC windows called “RAUCRON”.
In 1987, REHAU presented the first sliding sleeve technique for connecting pipes, with a billion units sold since then.
In 2000, the sons of the founder, Jobst Wagner, as President, and Veit Wagner, as Vice-President, took over the destiny of the company and developed it significantly.
In 2021, Jobst Wagner passes the presidency to Veit Wagner and takes over the vice presidency. With Nils Wagner, head of REHAU New Ventures, it is the third generation to occupy a management position.
In 2021, the pioneer and visionary Helmut Wagner died at the age of 95.
Today, one in three cars in Europe contains REHAU components. REHAU's 400.000 kilometers of micro-cable tubes connect people around the world. With around 100 patent applications per year, REHAU is one of the top patent applicants in Germany.
Pioneers of sustainability and innovation since 1948
Faithful to its values, anchored in its DNA, REHAU is shaping its future by placing a responsible and sustainable commitment at the heart of its business strategy. Indeed, since its creation in 1948, REHAU reintroduced recycled materials into its production processes and 30 years later the group initiated, among other things, a waste elimination process.
The circular economy, future-oriented energy supply as well as the promotion of diversity are at the heart of the company's concerns for a commitment to even greater sustainability. The objective is to move towards an increase in the share of recycling in production to 20% by 2025 (more than half of REHAU window profiles already contain up to 75% recycled granules) then by 2035 , to achieve CO2 neutral global production as is already the case on certain sites.
Thus, for future generations, REHAU plans and works beyond the boundaries of the company for a sustainable and innovative future. - in accordance with its motto "Engineering Progress. Enhancing lives": Our technological advances. Your everyday comfort.
