Real energy savings for the Cémoi site in Perpignan

An Energy Performance Contract has been put in place to guarantee real energy savings. 3 years after the end of the work, the savings are there with a commitment to an annual reduction of 78.000 euros.

Improve the energy performance of the Cémoi Perpignan site

In 2018, Cémoi entered into a partnership with CertiNergy & Solutions to design an energy efficiency project for its chocolate production site in Perpignan. CertiNergy & Solutions has thus proposed a project to overhaul the cold production installation integrating the installation of heat recovery. "The production of chilled water represents 30% of the site's electricity consumption, i.e. 400.000 euros per year. The favorable ESC market, the innovative technical proposal from CertiNergy & Solutions, enabled us to replace our entire refrigeration installation while realizing 20% ​​savings" specifies Stéphane Joubert, technical project manager at Cémoi.

This project, for an amount of 2.990.000 euros, was supported by Energy Savings Certificates.

Energy savings at the rendezvous

In order to guarantee real energy savings, CertiNergy & Solutions has committed to a 5-year period under an Energy Performance Contract. CertiNergy & Solutions' commitment focused on the savings achieved through the overhaul of cold production, heat recovery to heat domestic hot water and heat recovery to heat networks to 60°C. An OCP regulation solution has also been installed and should allow the site to save approximately 15.000 euros per year.

The annual reports carried out in September show that energy savings are on the agenda.

A project that is part of the CSR policy of the Cémoi Group

Cémoi has been producing French chocolate since 1814 and today has 9 industrial sites in France that produce chocolate. The Group is developing several actions to help protect the environment and reduce the impact of its activity, particularly related to its industrial sites.

After the success of this first project, Cémoi did not hesitate to multiply it on its other industrial sites. Today, 7 group sites have had their refrigeration installations renovated and significant energy savings have been achieved.

This approach joins the other initiatives carried out by Cémoi as part of its CSR commitments, such as the installation of photovoltaic shades and roofs, the connection to collective networks supplied by waste heat in order to avoid the use of gas water or the supply of methanization plants through their industrial water discharges from their laundries.
