Accessible over large hours, car parks must ensure safety and comfort for users thanks to appropriate lighting, sometimes 24/24, despite exorbitant energy bills linked to soaring electricity prices. Added to this are regulatory requirements such as the cessation of fluorescent tubes in August 7 and the Tertiary Decree, which make the renovation of their lighting systems more than necessary.
This is the reason why Q-Park France, manager since January 2022 of the Paris la Défense car parks for a period of 8 years, decided to replace the fluorescent tubes in the Boieldieu, Corolles and Reflets parks with RESISTO MW waterproof LED lighting. INFINITE CORRIDOR of Sylvania.
French subsidiary of one of the largest operators on the European parking market and number 3 in France, Q-Park manages 220 car parks spread across 70 cities across the national territory.
Having resumed at 1er January 2022 management of the Paris la Défense car parks, the new delegatee is undertaking an investment plan of €36 million over 8 years. The objective: to strengthen the quality of the customer experience in car parks by making a real move upmarket both from an aesthetic point of view and in terms of services (safety and comfort), in accordance with the request of Paris La Défense.
With 14 parks under management, 20.000 parking spaces and nearly 20.000 subscribers in the business district, in addition to an overall renovation, Q-Park absolutely must take strong measures to confront the increase in energy prices. He then decided to replace the entire lighting installation with LED lights, starting with the Boieldieu car park with a capacity of 1.660 spaces.
« Following the various analyzes carried out, the speed of execution and the quality/price ratio of the solutions proposed by Sylvania were what suited us best. Indeed, they met the criteria requested for this configuration, namely a minimum lighting level of 85 lux on the ground and no change in the cable tray... Another important point in our choice, the ease of installation and maintenance as well as the warranty extended to 8 years, corresponding to our delegation time » explains the Construction Operations Manager at Q-Park.
Eventually between 16.000 and 17.000 Sylvania lights will be installed in car parks Boieldieu, Corolles and Reflets including:
- 85% waterproof luminaires offering IP66 protection against humidity and dust including the RESISTO MW CORRIDOR INFINI in pedestrian and vehicle traffic areas. Equipped with a microwave presence detector, the lights turn on 100% only in the event of movement. When there is no vehicle or pedestrian detection, the Corridor function allows the luminous flux (5050 lm) to be maintained at 10%, thus ensuring continuous lighting with a minimum cost, to guarantee a high level of safety in all spaces. In addition, the START Waterproof Tubular was implemented at the entrance to the car parks,
- nearly 230 START Surface IP 66 black portholes located on the stairs and near the elevators. Offering high impact resistance (IK10) and an anti-vandal screw system, they provide up to 2800 lm for a total luminous efficiency reaching 148 lm/W,
- around a hundred START Flex LED strips installed in profiles which deliver minimalist designer lighting in motorcycle parking spaces and certain pedestrian traffic areas.
The whole system provides a constant sheet of lighting promoting safety and thus avoiding user anxiety, in compliance with the Q-PARK charter and that of Paris La Défense.
Since the installation of Sylvania LED lights in this oldest car park in the La Défense business district, Q-Park, which regularly monitors the park's electricity consumption, has already noted a significant drop in its costs of around 30 to 40% (all items combined: lighting, elevators, etc.)!
