Fire protection of steel structures with intumescent water-based paint PROMAPAINT® SC4

Thanks to its new intumescent paint PROMAPAINT® SC4, Promat improves the fire resistance of metal structures as well as their bearing capacity.

In the event of fire, the mechanical properties of steel are threatened from certain temperatures, which leads to a decrease in the stability of the building structure or even its collapse.

Promat, leader in passive fire protection, enriches its range of intumescent paints with PROMAPAINT® SC4, specifically intended for the protection of steel beams and columns made with usual I or H profiles and also tubular, rectangular profiles or circulars.

This one-component paint, consisting of an emulsion in aqueous suspension of a synthetic resin, is particularly recommended for treating steel structures. PROMAPAINT® SC4 forms an insulating layer which expands approximately 25 times the applied thickness from temperatures around 300 ° C. It offers a fire resistance of up to 90 minutes attested by European tests with high performance for degrees of fire stability of 30 and 60 minutes.

PROMAPAINT® SC4 is applied by brush or Airless gun on steel profiles protected by anticorrosion primers of epoxy type, or by galvanization, indoors, in environments with high humidity and outdoors under shelter (with finishing paint ).
