While a draft decree published on January 14 officially confirms that they will be able to continue heating with fuel oil after 2022, the communication campaigns touting everything electric sow confusion.
For the president of the FF3C, Eric Layly: “Faced with the massive influx of questions to professionals in the industry, it is urgent to clarify the information. Users of domestic fuel oil must be reassured: they can keep their heating equipment, have it repaired if necessary, and continue to benefit from the energy that best suits the characteristics of their home. "
From 2022, the new boilers will operate identically using a new fuel oil, Biofil, comprising up to 30% rapeseed ester.
The Ministry of Ecological Transition has submitted for public consultation a draft decree proposing to ban the installation of heating and hot water production systems using fuels. “With a high level of greenhouse gas emissions in buildings for residential or professional use. "
To allow consumers to navigate, this level of emissions has been set at 250 g of CO²eq per kWh PCI. Thus, the use or installation of any equipment using a fuel with an emission level below this threshold will be authorized. Still, some information improperly suggests to consumers that they would have no other choice but to give up their equipment and replace it with a heat pump.
"This solution may however prove to be counterproductive for certain households which risk seeing their electricity bill explode.. The all-electric without nuance will inevitably lead to an impasse, contrary to the issue of territorial equity in the energy transition that we defend. "
“There is no ban on fuel oil heating in 2022. Fuel oil boilers will therefore not disappear, the government must stop fostering confusion and angering users on this point. What will gradually change is the nature of the fuel they use. Our sector has been working for three years to bring to market a new biofuel from French rapeseed: Biofioul. This new product is ready for 2022 and the draft decree signs the official birth certificate. "
Eric Layly, president of FF3C
This decree will not penalize any consumer and opens up new perspectives by allowing free choice for consumers, especially “outside the cities”. Concretely :
- It allows the maintenance of existing boilers running on domestic fuel;
- For the new boilers to be installed from 2022, it provides for operation with a new fuel oil, Biofil;
- It allows the use of domestic fuel for cold periods in association with a heat pump.
The use of Biofuel will be compulsory for new boilers and will also be possible for existing boilers if the burner is compatible.
Biofioul is a new liquid energy, composed of a part of renewable energy obtained from French rapeseed, the cultivation of which contributes not only to France's energy sovereignty but also to its food sovereignty, through the production in equal parts of oil and vegetable protein that it allows.
From 2022, a Biofioul F30 containing up to 30% bioliquid from rapeseed will be placed on the market.
From fuel oil to Biofil, a renewable energy from the territories, for the territories
3rd heating energy in France, domestic fuel oil equips nearly 4 million homes, including 3,2 million main residences. It concerns households living mainly in individual houses, in areas not served by town gas.
Its use is particularly important in areas where winter temperatures are low (eastern facade, Hauts-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions, among others). In 28 metropolitan departments, the use of domestic fuel provides heating for nearly a quarter of homes, 12% on the national average.
Aware of this territorial reality, the profession has been working for nearly three years on the marketing of a liquid biofuel for heating, in collaboration with the rapeseed agricultural sector and equipment manufacturers.
