Professional and personal life: a precarious balance for SME managers

These entrepreneurs, who represent 98% of the economic fabric in numbers, are faced with unique challenges. They constantly juggle the demands of their business with their personal responsibilities, a duality frequently ignored by research devoted to well-being at work. Unlike large structures, SME managers often lack the resources or support necessary to delegate or organize their time effectively.

This study, led by the SDI, aims to highlight the difficulties encountered by artisans, traders and managers of very small businesses. They must face financial pressure, administrative constraints and the need to preserve time for their family and social life.

The well-being of these leaders is not limited to their business; it has a direct impact on their employees, their families and the local economy. The balance they seek to achieve is precarious and often tested. This study pays particular attention to this reality and calls for solutions adapted to the specific challenges faced by these entrepreneurs.

This study is essential to better understand the issues related to the work-life balance of SME managers, and to encourage initiatives aimed at improving their quality of life and that of their company.
