Plastor rewards the most beautiful parquet vitrification projects in 2019

The technical and decorative aspect of the site, but also the quality of the work and the craftsmanship are fully taken into account. The floors of these exceptional sites benefit in terms of performance protection of Plastor products and systems.

The prize-winners for this 11th edition are:

• 1er Price: The Grande Halle du Wip in Colombelles (14), built by the company Les Sens du Bois (50),
• 2nd Prize: The town hall of Plourin-Lès-Morlaix (51), carried out by the company Corre ponnement SAS (29).
• 3nd Prize: A private house in Béarnaise (64), built by the company Esteves (64).

1st Prize: La Grande Halle du Wip in Colombelles (14) Les Sens du Bois Company (50)

The renovation of La Grande Halle du Wip in Colombelles, an industrial heritage building, mainly incorporates concrete and wood, with 1 m600 of parquet flooring and 2 staircases with 6 steps which have been sanded and glazed by the company Les Sens du Bois . Partners for more than 40 years with Plastor, Nicolas TAVARES and Franck JEUFFRAULT, managers of the company specializing in the renovation and vitrification of parquet floors and stairs, used Plastor products to achieve the finishes for this project.

“We arrived on this site thanks to the recommendation of the Gouelle menuiserie company in Sartilly (50), which won the call for tenders and installed the floors. Our company carried out the sanding and vitrification, therefore all the finishes on traditional Douglas parquet floors as well as on plywood panels with a layer of solid white pine. We also had to varnish the rails of the railings of the stairs to protect them.

The renovation of this industrial building required compliance with environmental quality standards, hence the importance of choosing low-emissivity products. For the same reason, it was decided that the posts and below the visible corridors would remain raw.

We had to meet deadlines with the usual complexity, by organizing our work areas as best as possible so that all the other craftsmen and trades could move forward quickly. To do this, we mobilized our entire team, namely 5 people. Sometimes my father and one of his colleagues joined us, we were then 7. We managed to achieve the finishes in two weeks of work in all.

As it was new parquet, the material was quite pleasant to work with. Thanks to the Plastor products, the quality of which we have appreciated for 12 years now, we have easily been able to assess working time in the most precise way possible.

To meet the prerequisites for very limited VOC emissions, we have chosen to use Aquanat oil, very low in solvent emissivity with only 25 g of VOC / L. To harden the layer of these fairly thin products, we opted for DUOPUR-T3 mat, compatible with Aquanat oil, which had been validated by Plastor's technical service. The follow-up and relationships that we maintain with the Plastor teams have a lot to do with our success. "

AQUANAT Oil

Plastor's Aquanat one-component parquet oil offers excellent protection for floors subject to heavy daily traffic. It retains the natural appearance of raw wood while enhancing it. Easy to use, it does not leave a visible film and dries in just 1 to 2 hours between 2 coats. It thus applies without polishing in 3 coats during the day and without wiping. Its smell is not bothersome, it releases only 25 g / L of VOCs. Available in 2 effects: matte and raw effect.

DUOPUR-T 3 sealer

Bicomponent polycarbonate sealer in aqueous phase for rooms with high constraints and public places, Plastor's DuoPurT3 is very pleasant to apply. Fat, without annoying odor and classified A +, it gives a good filling, a non-yellowing film and a long recovery time. It is suitable for parquet or derived from new or old interior woods in all types of species. Applied directly to raw wood, it helps to preserve the clear tone of the woods. It is formulated with 0% NMP (N-Methyl Pyrrolidone) and NEP (N-Ethyl Pyrolidone). 3 aspects: mat, satin and gloss.

2nd Prize: The town hall of Plourin-lès-Morlaix (51) Entreprise Corre Ponnement SAS (29)

Michel CORRE Manager of Corre Ponquement family business founded in 1957, specialized from father to son, based in Brest. With 63 years of experience, she installs and maintains parquet floors.

“We do our business mainly with individuals. It is quite rare that we work for communities. In the case of the town hall of Plourin-lès-Morlaix, we obtained the site from the municipality, which knew the quality of our work. This town hall-media library program was the subject of an architectural competition brilliantly won by Philippe Madec in 1994. Our intervention mainly concerned the town council chamber.

The site consisted of approximately 200 m² of oak parquet. It involved the renovation of an existing parquet which had already been maintained a few years before. As the room had various functions, the floor had suffered damage. It was scratched from the tables, damaged by the passage and had suffered some moisture problems related to condensation near the bay windows.

We carried out the sanding and the vitrification in 3 layers. We were alone on the site, the renovation lasted a week. We first used a universal hard base then 2 coats of DUOPUR-T3, On the advice of the Plastor technical service, and to obtain a very deep matt appearance, we applied a first satin coat then a second matt.

We have always worked with Plastor. Their products and the relationships we have with salespeople give us complete satisfaction. My children are taking over the business and they too are delighted. "

3rd Prize: Private house of Béarnaise (64) Company Esteves (64)

Roger ESTEVES Manager of the company Roger Esteves started working in his father's company in 2012 before taking over the company on his own. He carries out the laying of parquet floors, sanding and vitrification, as well as the fitting of locks, joinery, cupboards and shutters, most often for individuals. For the renovation of the parquet floors of this traditional house typical of Béarn, Plastor products were used.

“One of my suppliers recommended me to the owner of the house who was undertaking a general renovation. I had to renovate 100 m² of pine flooring as well as a small part in oak, this concerned an entire floor and a staircase.

The first time I saw the parquet it was in fairly good condition, only when I came back to work it had been damaged and soiled by the modifications made by the drywallers to the partitions. Since nothing had been protected, there was a lot of plaster to remove. I had to deal with the plumbers during the job. My father came as reinforcement, we carried out repairs to the damage caused by the drywallers. The site took us a good week continuously.

The customer insisted on a satin appearance so that we first repaired and sanded the parquet, then we applied a PRIM'SO universal hard base and 2 coats of satin DUOPUR-T3 which gives a beautiful waxed appearance. I know Plastor products well because I have always worked with the brand, as my father had done for decades. We are delighted with their products and their advice. "

Primary PRIM'SO

With a high penetrating power which allows it to form an ideal bonding base for the finish, the PRIM'SO universal hard base is compatible with all Plastor sealers (aqueous phase as solvent). Its pore filler function neutralizes anti-oxidants to ensure the perfect drying of all parquet vitrifiers. Very comfortable to use, PRIM'SO dries quickly and without annoying odors. In addition, it gives a light honey color to the parquet and is suitable for new or old wood in all types of species.

DUOPUR-T 3 sealer

DUOPUR-T3 is a two-component polycarbonate sealer in aqueous phase for rooms with high constraints and public places. Made up of a 90/10 mixture, it is very pleasant to apply. Fat, without annoying odor and classified A +, it gives a good filling, a non-yellowing film and a long recovery time. It helps maintain the clear tone of woods when used directly on rough wood. It is perfectly suited to parquet or derived from new or old interior woods in all types of species. Finally, it is formulated with 0% NMP (N-Methyl Pyrrolidone) and NEP (N-Ethyl Pyrolidone). 3 aspects: mat, satin and gloss.
