Bjelin’s parent company Pervanovo is participating in the Biobuild sustainable research project

Launched with a budget of €4,9 million, the Horizon Europe-funded innovation project aims to reduce energy consumption in buildings by up to 20%. This will be achieved by stabilising indoor temperatures and storing heat when available.

“We are delighted to be involved in a research project at such an early stage,” says Georg Vetter, Director of Wood Technologies and Sustainability at Pervanovo Invest AB, “especially since this project focuses on energy savings and sustainability.”

As industrial partners, Pervanovo and Bjelin will produce untreated parquet floors as a benchmark, as well as parquet floors treated using the BIOBUILD method. This method involves treating the wood with an oil that changes phase depending on temperature, allowing it to absorb, bind and store energy. The BIOBUILD project will last four years and is coordinated by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).
