Norwegian Statkraft strengthens in Germany and France

This portfolio of assets, which consists of 35 farms (165 turbines) in Germany and four (20 turbines) in France, represents a total capacity of 337 MW.

The operation will allow Statkraft to double its wind power capacities in each of the two countries, the Norwegian public group said in a press release.

To boost the power of the facilities acquired, Statkraft says it is considering replacing turbines erected 15 to 21 years ago.

"Replacing old turbines with new, more efficient ones can double the energy production at these sites, thus contributing to the energy transition in Europe", notes Barbara Flesche, vice-president Europe of Statkraft, quoted in the press release. .

Essentially present in hydroelectricity, the Norwegian group aims to grow in wind, solar and storage batteries.

This announcement was made on the sidelines of the presentation of very solid financial results, despite a drop in electricity production and prices.

Thanks in particular to trading activities, Statkraft's net profit reached 5,5 billion crowns (476 million euros) in the second quarter, against a loss of 1,4 billion crowns a year earlier.
