This work is taking place in a very dense urban environment and requires very phased implementation to ensure continuity of traffic.
For this operation, the NGE group brings together 8 of its subsidiaries: NGE GC (agent) for civil engineering, EHTP for networks, NGE Fondations for supports, NGE Routes for the construction of access roads, NGE Energies Solutions for lighting, Guintoli for roads and earthworks, Mire for monitoring and Agilis for temporary signage. This work is being carried out under the project management of ingérop, and the Michel Desvigne Paysagiste agency and the Stoa firm will also be involved in urban and landscaping developments.
This work is part of the Cap Pinède-Capitaine Gèze axis redevelopment project, which is the subject of a financing agreement with the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis.
After the construction of the water retention and treatment basin carried out by NGE, which avoids discharges directly into the sea in the event of saturation of the networks during rainy periods, the covering of the Aygalades watercourse will allow the development of the future Place Gèze next to the Multimodal Exchange Hub (PEM).
Through this achievement, NGE is contributing to the future development of the site, which will be very landscaped on the edge of the future Aygalades stream park, while protecting the watercourse from waste dumping as a first step towards safeguarding. The technical skills implemented by the NGE group and the INGEROP design office will allow, through the reversibility of the works carried out, the opening of a light well in the medium term on the Aygalades stream from the public space when the waste problem has been brought under control. This step will mark the reconciliation between this stream, whose name means "living water", and the urbanization of the neighborhood, which has until now considered it as a simple outlet.
NGE will also deconstruct and rebuild two engineering structures that mark the accesses to the interchange hub. The excavations will be reused as backfill for the construction of the new structures. To date, the possible revaluation on site is estimated at 1.600 m3.
Part of the excavated soil is stored for future reuse in the overall redevelopment project for the district.
Work will begin in early 2025 and will last 22 months.
With its experience in civil engineering and hyper-urban sites, NGE has stood out by providing a comprehensive offer to EPAEM, bringing together all of the NGE group's business skills and delivered by a single contact. The project studies will be managed using a 3D digital model (BIM).
Key figures

- 1.500 m2 of cover and apron
For François MUNOZ, Director of the NGE civil engineering agency in the Provence region: "This work represents a real challenge for our teams due to the urban density and the need to maintain traffic flows. We have all the skills to successfully complete this project and it is a great source of pride for us to contribute positively to the project of redeveloping the district for the people who live here and obviously in favor of protecting the environment."
For Aurélie COUSI, Director General of EPA Euroméditerranée: "This project is a very strong symbol for Euroméditerranée since it is the second stage of the Capitaine Gèze boulevard redevelopment project after the construction of the retention basin. The covering of the Aygalades stream will allow an enlargement of the public space to eventually allow the creation of a central green, wide and comfortable public square in front of the multimodal interchange hub while developing all of the project's mobility infrastructures such as cycle paths or dedicated bus lanes. This operation carried out with the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis should allow a profound transformation of the Gèze sector and support the development of the ZAC Littorale."
