New Steering Committee for AFIPEB under the renewed chairmanship of Amaury Omnès

AFIPEB members re-elected Amaury Omnès - Managing Director of Hirsch Isolation - as President of the association. They elected Joaquim Correia - Strategic Marketing Director of Knauf - as Vice-President.

Accompanied by Jean-Michel Guihaumé, General Delegate of AFIPEB, Amaury Omnès aims to address the challenges of the expanded polystyrene (EPS) industry and to act to contribute to the development of efficient buildings from a thermal and environmental standpoint. .

The challenges of the sector revolve around six pillars:

• RE 2020
  Demonstrate the virtues of EPS as an insulating material and the industry's efforts to decarbonise buildings in a context of biosourced development by public authorities via regulations.
  
  
• Renovation
  Promote the benefits of energy renovation of buildings and renewable energies. In this regard, AFIPEB has joined the “ENGAGÉ POUR FAIRE” network, initiated by ADEME and the Sustainable Building plan.
  
  
• Innovation
  Extend the use of EPS from biomass - a material made from bio-naphtha and bio-gas - from the development of renewable resources. It contributes to reducing the environmental impact, in particular in terms of CO2 emissions, and permanently integrates these insulators into current and future construction methods.
  
  
• Recycling
  Develop the recycling of new product scraps and actively collaborate in the European “Life + PolyStyreneLoop” project targeting expanded polystyrene waste from demolition sites.
  
  
• Extended producer responsibility for building construction products and materials (REP PMCB)
  Actively contribute to the construction of this PWR sector with a view to improving the recovery of PES waste.
  
  
• Environmental
  Reinstate EPS as an essential material due to its relevance (carbon weight / thermal performance ratio) and its efficiency (technical and economic performance) Proactively before regulatory obligation, promote good practices to avoid any dispersion of granules in the nature. As such, AFIPEB adheres to Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS), an international program to combat the dispersion of particles in the environment.

Committed and active, this new team will work on the development and preservation of a French industry that is well established throughout the country. It will also focus on highlighting PSE insulation, which is efficient and durable, which contributes significantly to reducing the environmental impact of buildings.
