The attribution of the brand new special mention "sustainability" awarded at the end of 2021 to the Gyrofocus Vitré during the Archiproducts Design Awards (ADA) is the recognition of the approach undertaken by Focus for years in the transformation of its wood-burning fireplaces, with a triple objective of energy performance, eco-responsibility and this without ever touching the design.
Beyond design, energy performance!
Focus presents a selection of three Ecodesign certified models. These three iconic models of the brand, now available in a glazed version in compliance with the environmental regulations in force, are protected by a Patent. The Gyrofocus and the Domofocus also display a 4 star rating (4 stelle) in the Italian regulations among the most demanding in the world.
Absolutely nothing of the design of the Ergofocus and the Domofocus has been modified. The pure and ergonomic shape of one and the development of the curves of the second, little brother of the Gyrofocus, have been perfectly preserved as well as their 360° swiveling. As on the Gyrofocus, glass walls, devoid of uprights and sliding laterally, offer an intact view of the fire without risk of flying sparks.
Beyond design, technological challenges!
Focus is the only company in the sector to constrain the combustion chamber of its fireplaces to their design. This already difficult challenge has become much more complex with the ambition to close its fireplaces and provide them with real energy performance… the organic shapes of these iconic models were initially not suited to this dual technological challenge!
About ten years ago, Focus embarked on a real transformation of its industrial process by creating an R&D department and investing more than 6 million euros in it. In order to further speed up and streamline the certification process, Focus has also equipped itself with a test bench identical to that used by the European laboratories that award Ecodesign approval. It is thanks to this strong technological component, to a culture very specific to its own products and to a limited series production that Focus takes up these challenges.

The glazed Gyrofocus crowned at the Archiproducts Design Awards [ADA] 2021
Since autumn 2021 already, the emblematic Gyrofocus, the world's first suspended and pivoting fireplace, has been available in a glass version that in no way betrays its status as an icon of international design.
Proving that Focus models are not only beautiful, but also smart, the first official recognition came at the end of November 2021 for the commitment the company has shown in creating eco-responsible products. Among the winners in the “Finishes” category, the glazed Gyrofocus was also awarded the brand new special mention for durability.
The jury, made up of environmental, eco-design and sustainability experts from the world of architecture and design, rewarded products capable of distinguishing themselves through the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials, production techniques low polluting emissions, their commitment to ensuring minimal environmental impact throughout the product life cycle.
There were over 100 nominees from around the world for the special mention on sustainable development. The Gyrofocus Vitré has distinguished itself by its capacity for innovation, its high technology and above all by its legendary design, now as ethical as it is sustainable.
At its side now in the range of glazed wood fireplaces, its younger brother, the Domofocus and the timeless Ergofocus.
