New AIR/WATER heat pump with R290 refrigerant: a greener and more efficient alternative

What is R290?

R290, also known as propane, is a natural, category A3 refrigerant used in refrigeration and air conditioning. It is composed of carbon and hydrogen. Unlike other refrigerants, it is odorless, non-toxic, and has a low impact on global warming.

Better energy efficiency

R290 has excellent thermodynamic properties, making it highly efficient for heat pumps. It allows for faster conversion between liquid and gaseous states, reducing energy consumption and improving overall system performance.

The efficiency of an R290 heat pump is much higher than that of heat pumps using the R410a and R32 refrigerants, which are currently widely used. For example, the Grant Aérona R290 heat pump has an ErP A+++ energy rating at 35°C starting temperature.

More environmentally friendly

R290 also benefits from a near-zero environmental impact with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of only 3, compared to R410a at 2088 and R32 at 675.

Although R290 is more flammable than R32, its reduced environmental impact and high performance make it a very attractive alternative.

ECOMAX360I climate control: intuitive and comprehensive

The Aérona R290 heat pumps operate with advanced climate control based on the water law (the principle of regulating the temperature of the heating water). The touchscreen can manage up to 7 heating circuits, a DHW tank, a buffer tank, and heating and cooling climate curves.

Remote management via smartphone or PC is possible with the optional Econet module, providing flexible and convenient control.
