Pretto, a specialist in 100% digital real estate brokerage, highlights recent trends in mortgage rates for the month of September. After a summer break marked by the Olympic Games and political uncertainty, rates are starting to fall again this fall.
- After an initial reduction in key rates decided on June 6, and in line with a summer marked by increasing pressure on the Fed in the United States, the ECB could continue its easing from September 12.
- Anticipating the continuation of this trajectory, several banks are sharing declining scales, in particular some of them which had been out of the market for several months and are starting to re-conquer, generating more competition between establishments and therefore more opportunities for borrowers.
Rates will drop by 0,05 to 0,10 points from this fall, and this drop should increase by the end of the year; rates could reach 3 to 3,30% over 20 years at the end of the year.

For Pierre Chapon, president of Pretto: "Between falling mortgage rates, falling property prices and rising wages, borrowers are in a much better position today than they were at the end of 2023. There is a clear window of opportunity at the end of the year before prices likely start to rise again."
