More than a billion euros for daily transport in Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur

The first of these agreements, both signed at the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur regional council, will allow 580 million euros to be committed for works and maintenance on 435 km of small railway lines: the line of the Côte Bleue, north-west of Marseille, and the services around the stars of Breil and Veynes, respectively in the Alpes-Maritimes and Hautes-Alpes.

"Everything will therefore be done to avoid the closure of these lines essential to rural mobility", insists the press release from the region about this convention ratified by the Minister Delegate in charge of Transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari and President LR of the Renaud Muselier region.

The second agreement, signed between the minister, the region, the departments concerned and Vinci Autoroutes, provides for 460 million euros of work to remove recurring congestion points from the regional road network.

These 13 projects will notably make it possible to create motorway interchanges and half-interchanges, in order to facilitate connections between territories, notably around Sophia-Antipolis (Alpes-Maritimes), Luc (Var) or Orange (Vaucluse).

One of these projects will allow the creation of a lane reserved for public transport on the A8 motorway, between Villeneuve-Loubet and Antibes in order to better serve the Sophia-Antipolis technology park from Nice, via a bus line.

"Today, the motorway network has an essential role to play in the decarbonisation of mobility, because the journeys of the French by road represent more than a third of the total CO2 emissions of the country", pleaded Pierre Coppey, president of Vinci Autoroutes.

This second agreement involves Vinci Autoroutes, to the tune of 235 million euros, the Paca region (115 million EUR) and the departments and cities concerned (110 million EUR).
