MIPIM 2024 / Road to Zero, a responsible and committed edition
The “Road to Zero” zone at MIPIM, dedicated to players working to accelerate the transformation of the real estate sector towards a more sustainable model, was once again a success. This space combines exhibitions, networking events and conferences, with a focus on practical solutions that help decarbonize the sector. “Road to Zero” brings together all the players involved in this process: investors, developers, builders, architects as well as all suppliers of innovative solutions.
The 2024 edition of MIPIM was the most responsible and committed in its history thanks to concrete actions: minimization of waste, reuse of materials, reduction of the carbon footprint, concrete actions in favor of inclusion, equity and the diversity. MIPIM is transformed, with each edition, to become one of the most sustainable, carbon-free and waste-efficient trade fairs. From 2023, MIPIM has managed to reduce its waste by 32% compared to 2022, despite an increase in the number of visitors. In 2024, MIPIM met its objective of continuing this reduction of around 10% each year.
MIPIM has decided to continue its exemplary approach by creating a very ambitious charter implemented internally, in favor of inclusion, equity, diversity and calling on French participants to become signatories and opening it to partners international in 2025.
All the initiatives put in place by MIPIM are available here.
For Nicolas Kozubek, general director of MIPIM: “Time is short. That of emergency, which we courageously face on a daily basis and which pushes us to act immediately in the face of the lack of housing, and the upheavals in investment in corporate and commercial real estate which affect the entire sector. And then there is the long term, the one which forces us to anticipate and find solutions for the future of our numerous and populated cities - nearly 7 billion city dwellers by 2050 - in a world in perpetual adaptation and subject to the urgency of global warming and sobriety. The reconciliation of the long term and emergency management cannot be done without the time for reflection shared by all the actors in the making of the city. This was the – successful – promise of MIPIM 2024, more than ever thought of as a “summit” of the city and real estate capable of bringing together for a few days more than 20.000 leaders and decision-makers from 90 countries. The MIPIM meeting creates all the conditions to put forward model projects to “build together” a sustainable and affordable city, finding lasting solutions to achieve carbon neutrality while preserving the capacity of industry professionals. »
