The associations of the municipal bloc met on Wednesday, October 30, at the premises of the Association of Mayors of France (AMF) to discuss the draft finance bill for 2025 currently being examined by the National Assembly.
The seven associations of elected officials stressed the serious concern expressed to them by the 35.000 mayors and 1.250 presidents of inter-municipal authorities regarding the additional cuts, amounting to at least 10 billion euros, that the State intends to make from their budgets.
They oppose these levies which are not savings and reiterate their attachment to the principle of fairness which binds them, as demonstrated by this first unprecedented meeting which marks their unity.
They will soon propose savings avenues to the Government to help it meet its budgetary challenge. The State must reform itself to be more efficient and only true decentralization will make it possible to regain public performance to clean up public accounts, and to serve the inhabitants.
