MBAcity strengthens its presence in the Data Center segment with a first major project in Marseille

Located at the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille, this major project was awarded to GSE in March 2025. The future site will cover 21,700 m². It will have a capacity of 22 MW, with commissioning scheduled for December 2026. To support the technical coordination of this operation, GSE called upon MBAcity's expertise in technical synthesis.

A tight schedule

The mission, launched in May 2025 and conducted until January 2026, took place within a particularly tight timeframe. Two engineers were continuously mobilized to meet a sustained pace of execution, characterized by work standards inspired by Anglo-Saxon practices.

According to Nicolas Bernardeau, National Director of Operations at MBAcity: “The pace required was more ‘American’: no hesitation, move forward, produce, in record time. On a Data Center project, given that the clients are American, the construction methods follow international standards. In France, we are not used to working like that. It’s a hurdle to overcome.”

Accompany and secure

In this context, MBAcity provided comprehensive management of the technical coordination. Its engineers coordinated the execution studies, analyzed the companies' data, and produced the coordination plans. They also led progress meetings and consolidated the deliverables. The objective was to ensure network compatibility, streamline communication between the various trades, and secure the entire project.

The mission focused primarily on spatial coordination, but also on verifying 3D and BIM digital models, as well as cross-referencing technical studies. MBAcity also provided support during critical phases, demonstrating its ability to integrate diverse software environments and models from heterogeneous ecosystems.

The specific constraints of data centers have reinforced the importance of this mission. These infrastructures concentrate significant technical volumes. The networks are particularly dense. The requirements are high in terms of security and business continuity. Cable trays, cooling systems, fire protection systems, and redundant electrical equipment greatly complicate the studies.

According to Nicolas Bernardeau, National Director of Operations at MBAcity: “We have identified similarities with certain hospital construction projects, where our expertise has provided real support.”As in the hospital sector, security levels are high, with enhanced measures in terms of power supply, technical supervision, and risk management.

A successful first Data Center mission

This project marks a key milestone for MBAcity, which here secures a major first reference in France in the data center market.
