MaPrimeRénov': €229 million in fraud avoided in 2024, according to the Minister for Housing

Faced with the rise of eco-crime, Valérie Létard, Minister of Housing, reaffirms her commitment to firmly combating these abuses and protecting households. To continue ensuring the integrity of energy renovation aid, the Minister announces that the National Agency for Housing Improvement (ANAH) will maintain all the measures in place in 2025 and strengthen its controls.

Results that validate the effectiveness of Anah's systems

Eco-crime is a scourge that undermines the ecological transition and plunders public finances. In 2024, 44.172 fraudulent MaPrimeRénov' applications were detected before payment. To achieve this level of vigilance, each aid application file is subject to systematic verification before validation and then payment. These checks are regularly supplemented by enhanced controls and on-site inspections.

These efforts have prevented €229 million in fraud. They are essential to ensure the rigorous use of public funds and protect aid recipients.

A commitment reaffirmed for 2025: more controls, more prevention, more sanctions

The minister announces an intensification of Anah's efforts to combat public aid fraud more effectively.

• Anah and the general directorate in charge of fraud prevention will strengthen their exchange of information, in a common culture of the fight against renovation fraud by providing awareness and reciprocal training for their agents.
• Anah will continue its communication campaigns to inform beneficiaries of good practices and the risks of fraud.
• The France Rénov' public service will continue to provide free and neutral support to households. Its advisors are available at any point during the process and should they have any questions.

A strengthened legal arsenal

Valérie Létard, Minister for Housing, supports the progress planned by the 2025 Finance Bill, which introduces better control of the authenticity of bank details and strengthens the traceability of payments made by Anah.

In addition, the proposed law against all forms of public aid fraud, initiated by Thomas Cazenave and currently under discussion in Parliament, aims to provide new levers for action by:

• Strictly supervising the activity of agents,
• Increasing financial penalties against fraudsters,
• Implementing "name and shame" for fraudsters,
• Extending the ban on telephone canvassing to work to adapt to loss of autonomy, in addition to other work already covered.
