An outdoor coworking space, a cool bench, an olfactory break near the Tony Garnier hall ... the 5th edition of the Lyon City Demain takes place from Thursday to Sunday in the Gerland district of Lyon.
"The objective is to put the citizen back in the heart of the city," explains Olivia Cuir, the festival director who already took over the Part-Dieu district in 2015 and the Hôtel Dieu in 2013 in Lyon.
"We want to promote the food of tomorrow, urban nature, like here the Berges park, and mobility, a source of social bond", continues Olivia Cuir, who ensures that the projects presented are not only prototypes but are supposed to reproduced for other cities.
This is the case of Trioco, an outdoor coworking space located in the Parc des Berges in the south of the city. "With wifi access, connections to recharge computers and bikes thanks to the photovoltaic panels on the roof, this shelter is a real outdoor workspace", explains Elodie Saugues, its manager.
Further, a place of urban agricultural production T [h] anks Lyon, "the most successful project" according to the director of the festival. "Thanks to hydroponics - above-ground cultivation - it is now possible to cultivate in the city, at zero consumption, via the recovery of rainwater and solar panels", says Olivia Leather.
In all, 14 designer projects are presented throughout the festival, free of charge. Including a fresh bench, refreshed by a water tank which moistens the concrete foundation, or a "rest area" made up of wooden terraces on the square which faces the Tony Garnier hall, a place for shows. And where the passer-by usually does not take the time to stop.
Funded mainly by the Métropole de Lyon, the festival, which had attracted 20.000 people in 2015, invests until June 18 Gerland, a former industrial district in full transformation.
