Loss of autonomy: Porcher solutions for adapting your home

Nearly 90% of seniors wish to age at home rather than in an institution, the state has set up MaPrimeAdapt since January 1, 2024, financial aid aimed at financing work to adapt housing to allow everyone to live comfortably in their home despite a loss of autonomy.

Whether it is to install a raised toilet or transform a bathtub into a shower space to make it more accessible, Porcher benefits from a complete range of solutions, eligible for this system, which ensure the comfort and safety of these people in the bathroom and toilets.

Installing a raised toilet

To carry out work to adapt toilets to make them accessible to all, Porcher offers:

• 3 raised toilet packs: Noé, Ulysse and Okyris
• the Okyris Pro PMR space-saving wall-mounted toilet

With a seat height of 46,5 cm, the Noé, Ulysse and Okyris raised toilet packs from Porcher make access to the toilets easier. They make it much easier to sit down and get up.

The elongated shape (60 cm) of the Okyris Pro PMR space-saving wall-hung toilet offers a very good seat and facilitates the lateral transfer of the person if they are in a wheelchair. Ergonomic and functional, this new toilet, which is higher (45 cm) than a conventional toilet, guarantees, in addition to the comfort it provides for the user when getting up, better safety. Installed on a conventional support frame, it is ideal for renovation work.

For enhanced hygiene, the Okyris Pro PMR space-saving wall-hung toilet bowl and the Okyris raised toilet pack are streamlined and benefit from RimLS+ rimless flush technology, allowing a larger part of the bowl to be rinsed without splashing, thus preventing bacteria from developing.

As water savings are at the heart of Porcher's concerns, the WC pack tanks are equipped with SmartValve to save up to 63 litres of water per week, a 12% reduction in the bill. This special inlet valve allows the tank to be filled only at the end of the drain, which avoids wasting water during rinsing. Certified NF in acoustic category 1, it is particularly quiet.

Made from high-quality vitreous china, the Noé, Ulysse and Okyris raised toilet packs and the Okyris Pro PMR space-saving wall-hung toilet bowl are guaranteed for 25 years.

Transforming a bathtub into a shower space

While the bathtub is appreciated for the moments of relaxation it provides, it is synonymous with dangers for people who are losing their autonomy. Difficult to step over to get in or out of, it creates risks of slipping and falling.

In order to adapt the bathroom to the needs of this population, Porcher recommends replacing the bathtub with a walk-in shower area consisting of an extra-flat Okyris shower tray with non-slip coating, combined with the Olyos or Okyris thermostatic shower columns and sets as well as the Olyos and Okyris thermostatic shower mixers equipped with Cool Body technology (warm tap body limiting the risk of scalding).

Rectangular (100 x 80, 120 x 80, 120 x 90 cm) or square (80 and 90 cm), Okyris shower trays, in recessed installation, are perfectly adapted to the needs of the elderly or people with reduced mobility. Without a step, they make the shower area fully accessible, in accordance with the decree of September 11, 2020.

To provide even more comfort in the shower area, Porcher also offers a wall-mounted, folding shower seat, Contour 21, which can support a maximum weight of 125 kg. Featuring a steel frame and a seat made of vacuum-moulded polyethylene (PE), it offers excellent resistance to shock, pressure, abrasion and temperature variations.

Accessories that make everyday life easier

Angled, straight or L-shaped, the two ranges of wall-mounted grab bars and support bars Contour 21 and Matura 2 from Porcher secure toilets and bathrooms while being practical and attractive by acting as towel rails, for example.

With a diameter of 35 mm for better grip, they are made up of several models in extruded aluminum for optimal strength and durability:

• Contour 21 grab bar (90 x 40 cm), L-shaped, left or right angle;
• Contour 21 grab bar (35 x 35 cm), angled at 135°;
• Contour 21 grab bar (45 x 10 cm);
• Contour 21 grab bars (80 and 65 cm), available in 5 finishes (white, blue, steel, grey and anthracite) and capable of supporting 200 kg;
• Matura 2 grab bar (45 cm) in stainless steel finish.

Soft to the touch thanks to the epoxy coating, they are also non-slip.
Finally, thanks to the rosette cover fixings, the aesthetics of the support bars contribute to their ease of maintenance.
