The OPPBTP gives its recommendations to prevent risks linked to high heat on construction sites

Last year, several fatal work accidents possibly linked to heat were notified by the General Directorate of Labor. These fatal work accidents were observed throughout the summer and almost half of them occurred within the framework of a professional construction and works activity. In order to prevent and fight against these accidents, the OPPBTP gives its recommendations to prevent them.

These recommendations can be found in the guide “ High heat and scorching effects on construction sites » which, incorporating the latest regulations, aims to help all construction stakeholders to better prepare for recurring periods of high heat and provides advice for working safely on construction sites, in offices, workshops or life bases during these episodes.

Also, on its website preventionbtp.fr, the OPPBTP provides professionals with a toolbox which brings together useful resources to ensure their safety in these working conditions in high heat (videos, posters, questions/answers, solutions, etc.). The latest news are:

• The publication of new fact sheets: “Access to water: how to hydrate and cool off during periods of extreme heat or heat waves on construction sites” and “How to cool the air in premises or take shelter on construction sites during periods of extreme heat or heatwave”;
• The creation of new posters: “Protect people vulnerable to heat and young workers from the effects of high heat or heat waves in the construction industry” and to prevent heat stress in collaboration with the ASE BTP;
• The publication of a retro-planning for the prevention of risks linked to high heat in partnership with the Ministry of Labor, the FNTP, the Cnam and the INRS;
