Local elected officials regret "the absence of strong proposals" to solve the housing crisis

Six associations of local elected officials regret "the absence of strong and expected proposals to resolve the housing crisis" from the government, after the arbitrations rendered on Monday June 5 by Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne.

The Association of Mayors of Ile-de-France (AMIF), the Association of Rural Mayors of France (AMRF), the Association of Small Towns of France (APVF), France Urbaine, Intermunicipalities of France and Ville & Banlieue deplore Wednesday in a joint statement "a form of blindness on the part of the government on the difficulties encountered on the ground".

Ms. Borne presented her arbitrations on Monday before the working groups of the National Council for Refoundation, while warning that there was "no magic measure, one and only, which would make it possible to unblock the situation".

If the associations of elected officials welcome "the extension of the zero-rate loan, the extension of the public guarantee for tenants or the development of intermediate rent rentals", these measures "are not up to the challenges", consider -they.

The six associations of elected officials regret in particular the absence of measures allowing them to have control over MaPrimeRénov' credits, and access to "public regulation tools currently reserved for tense areas, such as the supervision of rents, the regulation of tourist accommodation in order to fight more effectively against real estate speculation".

Local elected officials also regret "the absence of measures aimed at strengthening the right to experiment with land tools", in order to successfully implement the objective of zero net artificialisation (reduction of the extension of cities to the detriment of nature) or fight effectively against the vacancy of housing.

They also ask for "the establishment of aid for mayor builders in order to boost the construction of housing in tense areas such as, for example, in Île-de-France".

On Tuesday, the Association of Mayors of France (AMF) had already denounced the "insufficiency" and "lack of consistency" of government announcements, calling in particular for a "relaunch of the incentive for mayor builders".
