Philippe Boué, President of the Federation, took advantage of this meeting to recall the challenges that drive the sector in terms of modernizing the fleet, recruitment and technologies to meet the challenges of our societies, vertical mobility and business developments. .
It is in this context that the Federation announces the opening of the call for applications for the 8th edition of the Ascenseur Trophies.
This dynamism is confirmed in a context of gradual transfer of new construction activities towards rehabilitation.
- A turnover of 2,65 billion euros (+3% compared to 2021)
- A slight drop in sales volume of new devices, but which remains above 12.000 units, and 2.850 for complete replacements (i.e. +29% in this segment)
- 252 million euros in turnover from modernization sales (+15,5%)
- A sector that maintains its workforce of more than 17.000 employees, a stable figure since 2018, of which 70% are field operators dedicated to the maintenance of the fleet
For Philippe Boué, President of the Federation of Lifts: “In 2022, the Federation was at the forefront of the challenges of today's habitat and the city of tomorrow. Yes, lift Professionals are at the forefront of changes in society, demographics and vertical mobility. After the covid-19 crisis and at a time of slowdown in investments to mitigate climate change, we are more than ever in the field of concrete exchanges and direct debates with our partners, public authorities and institutions. Training, CSR, new technologies and sustainable cities… key issues for the Profession that concern all French people. Thus, we have been developing, for more than a year, a mapping of all our challenges and our objectives. Among them, the issue of renovation is essential to increase the availability, reliability and safety of lifts, not to mention the significant in terms of energy in order to be a source of proposals for decision-makers, and a proactive player at the service of users. Elevators are no longer examples in time, but in that of action and support for the best possible decisions for the mobility and accessibility of all our fellow citizens! »
Roadmap 2022: a year of dialogue and commitment
The Fédération des Ascenseurs first wanted to respond to environmental and societal challenges, by strengthening its voice in institutional debates for the development of sustainable and inclusive cities, with, in 2022:
- Several "proposals to make life easier for residents in buildings and in cities", in the context of the last presidential elections, including the establishment of a renovation aid called Ma Prime Rénov 'Ascenseurs
- Meetings with elected officials, such as Valérie Pécresse and the Île-de-France Region who have released aid of 2 million euros per year to renovate the elevators of the private social park
- A study by the Silver Eco sector on the economic impact of a policy of massive adaptation of housing to aging, while the sector is preparing for the implementation on January 1, 2024 of the Ma Prime Adapt' system.
Rethinking housing in the face of the new challenges of our decade: renovation of condominiums, accessibility in and to buildings, home maintenance in the face of loss of autonomy and life accidents regardless of age... so many priority subjects that lift professionals are now taking charge of, in a context of increasingly reduced purchasing power. It is for this reason that the last IPSOS barometer "The French and the lift", published in 2022, had highlighted the desire of users to expand financial aid for the renovation and installation of lifts, with 77 % of respondents deeming them necessary.
As a second priority for the Profession: respond to the challenges of the attractiveness of professions, with an average need of a thousand technicians per year in France. Both upstream, to directly reach young high school students and students, thanks to the campaign to be an elevator operator, on training courses giving access to meaningful jobs, which cannot be relocated, scalable and increasingly focused on new technologies. And downstream, with all users, by showing the very concrete contributions of the Profession to living well together and living better at home, with the Lift Trophies and an 8th edition which starts in a few days. .
For President Philippe Boué: “Our 2023-2024 roadmap has very clear objectives: to continue to challenge the public authorities and private players on the dilapidation of the park in France, to make our Profession even more attractive to encourage recruitment, to include it more than ever in a sustainable development approach, and perpetuate our work with the Silver economy. »
