Leonard, the VINCI Group's foresight and innovation platform, presents the finalist start-ups of the Hello Tomorrow Global Challenge 2022 in the category “Sustainable construction and infrastructure”. Partner of Hello Tomorrow for the fourth consecutive year, Leonard has surrounded himself with experts from VINCI and Hello Tomorrow to select six start-ups from among hundreds of candidates wishing to meet the climate and societal challenges of today and tomorrow. :
- BioZeroc (Britain) : creation of concrete without cement thanks to biotechnologies
- Caeli Energy (France) : design of low-carbon and energy-efficient air conditioning systems. Caeli Energie benefited from the support of Leonard's SEED program in 2021.
- Made of Air (Germany) : removing carbon dioxide from the air and reusing it to make products that replace fossil-based plastics or high-emitting materials.
- Mykor (Britain) : transformation of cellulosic waste and mushrooms into sustainable building materials.
- Peafowl Plasmonics (Sweden) : transparent solar cells powering the next generation of IoT devices to enable mass deployment.
- Strong by Form (Chile): a high performance, free-form wood-based composite intended to replace concrete, steel and aluminum in the built environment.
More than 4 solutions were presented to the various juries in the 000 categories of the Global Challenge, for a total of 11 start-up finalists. Revolutionary medical treatments, circular economy of materials, drastic reduction of CO70 emissions, artificial intelligence, etc. : these innovative technologies aim to have a real impact on industry, society and the planet.
Start-ups will have the opportunity to present their solutions to a jury on March 9 and 10 during the Global Summit at Centquatre-Paris. Ten of them will win prizes in kind (personalized coaching sessions, meetings with potential investors and clients) and the top three will win 100, 000 and 30 euros respectively.
“For four years, we have been proud to support Hello Tomorrow in revealing the best Deep Tech companies by being a partner of the Global Challenge. Leonard, supported by the expertise of the various entities of the VINCI Group, explores Deep Tech to identify and support disruptive solutions in the construction, energy and mobility sectors. It is partly thanks to them that we will respond to the major environmental and societal challenges faced by cities and infrastructures.”, says Julien Villalongue, director of Leonard.
In January 2023, Leonard welcomed 45 new start-ups within its SEED, CATALYST, intrapreneurs and IA programs. These projects provide pioneering solutions to meet the challenges of ecological transition, safety and productivity in the fields of construction, mobility and energy. They will benefit from 6 months of support from Leonard.
