Legislative elections: Enerplan calls for a resolute choice of solar energy

Enerplan would first like to remind you that solar energy is by far the preferred energy of the French¹ and that nearly 1 million of them have chosen it personally as a source of energy².

The energy issue is decisive for our future. The reality of climate change is already setting in. Solar energy, for the production of heat and electricity, is essential to succeed in the massive decarbonization and electrification of our uses. This dynamic is verified in France, but brings together all countries: with more than 345 GW of new power plants commissioned in 2023 alone, photovoltaic solar energy represents 60% of new connected power plants in the world.³. All prospective scenarios converge: solar power, which has become the most abundant and cheapest energy in the world, is essential in the coming years, to rapidly decarbonize the economy, develop our territories while controlling our energy costs.

Public support for solar energy must therefore be clearly stated and assumed. French solar companies are recruiting and investing in the regions, particularly in rural areas, and already have tens of thousands of local, non-relocatable jobs at all levels of training. Solar industry factory projects supported by gigafactories are on track to create 20 direct and indirect jobs in industrial areas in crisis⁴. Through their local investments supported by the private sector, through the work of tens of thousands of craftsmen, SMEs and ETIs, through the ongoing reindustrialization of France and Europe, they are the economic and ecological drivers of these territories.

Solar energy is an asset for the purchasing power of households, for the fight against energy poverty, and for the resilience of businesses and territories. Like other renewable energies, it reduces dependence on fossil fuels, which are very costly to the French economy and the climate every year. Solar energy strengthens the energy sovereignty of France and Europe.

For these reasons, Enerplan is calling, on June 30 and July 7, on candidates and voters to integrate, into their considerations, the imperative of a resolute choice in favor of solar energy and more generally renewable energies.
