Launch of a consultation on the decentralization of the housing policy

The Minister of Ecological Transition Christophe Béchu, the Minister of Housing Olivier Klein and the Minister of Territorial Communities Dominique Faure met on Tuesday with representatives of municipalities, intermunicipalities, departments and regions.

The discussions focused on improving housing conditions, "in the first place of the most fragile", on increasing the pace of construction "where the needs are" and on the need to "renovate and build in an ecological way". , says the Ministry of Ecological Transition in a press release.

Other consultations will take place with representatives of the mayors of rural municipalities, small towns, as well as mountain and coastal elected officials.

The discussions concern both construction, the redesign of zoning where the real estate market is particularly tense, or even the experimentation of the "Pinel" tax reduction system in Brittany, as "all the other subjects which are of close interest to the political housing", explained the entourage of Christophe Béchu during a press briefing.

"The ministers are certainly not going to propose a pre-constructed framework (...) We are obviously in a logic of differentiation and we expect these associations to make an observation and proposals", we added from same source, while specifying that any decision "does not necessarily go through the law".
