Labaronne-Citaf installs the first flexible tank with a capacity of 2.000 m3

After Bangladesh, the Middle East and France, it is Italy's turn to welcome its first 2000 m3 flexible tank. Labaronne-Citaf responded to the request of a farmer seeking to increase the storage capacity of his anaerobic digestion unit.

This very recent project is a real coup for French society, which strengthens its international influence and consolidates its expertise on large-scale projects.

An attractive alternative to concrete tanks

The Italian client of Labaronne-Citaf is a farmer from northern Italy, producing grass and tobacco. He is also the owner of several bull farms which he hires out. It recovers the slurry from these farms to supply its 1 MWh (Mega Watt hour) biogas unit.

Recently, this farmer ran into a storage problem: the concrete tanks of his methanisation unit were no longer sufficient to store the digestate - residue from the methanisation process. To meet his needs, it was therefore necessary to consider the construction of a new tank 6m high. The environmental services, however, did not give him permission. At issue: too great a landscape impact. To overcome this refusal, he then set out to find another solution. Having heard of flexible tanks from one of Labaronne-Citaf's partners, he was won over by their flexibility and reduced maintenance costs. He therefore chose to acquire a flexible tank, and not the least: 2000 m3 and in one piece!

The installation of the cistern aroused the curiosity of the neighborhood and of the other farmers, up to that of the officials of the region who came to the site to discover this new solution. All found this product very interesting, that the spread of odors is limited and that despite the space occupied on the ground, the tank is not very "invasive". It fits into the landscape.

The flexible tank: an economical and practical storage solution
