KONE announces the availability of the first digital connected services platform for all existing elevators, regardless of their brands. One year after launching its line of elevators with native connectivity, KONE DX, for new buildings, KONE is accelerating the transformation of the elevator to a service model.
From now on, the 590.000 elevators in the French fleet can be equipped with the digital platform, transforming them into augmented elevators with associated services. Management of the flow of people, remote elevator call, interactive screen in the cabin, customizable music… these services are already a reality and can be activated at any time, depending on the building's needs.
This revolution for the elevator takes on its full meaning in the current context where buildings must adapt with agility to meet the challenges of sustainability, new uses (telework, diversity, etc.) and health measures (movement of people, contactless ).
KONE continues its digital transformation and ramps up in connected services
After the launch in 2017 of the first predictive maintenance offer on the market and the announcement of the first natively connected elevator at the end of 2019, KONE is still accelerating the digital transformation of the services offered to its customers and users.
The Finnish group is becoming the first player in its market capable of upgrading all elevators, regardless of brand, in existing buildings into a connected service platform. The 590.000 elevators installed in France1 can benefit from this development. Via the digital platform, the elevator thus becomes a real connected object with a bouquet of customizable services that can be activated on demand to improve comfort, safety and user experience: this is the advent of the augmented elevator.
“We are talking about mobility as a service: the elevator, which is the number one means of transport in the world, is no exception! For KONE, the elevator is a service platform, it is a new standard that we have introduced to the market. Today, this standard also concerns the existing market: any building can become "smart" by connecting its elevator. KONE has always been a pioneer in innovation and today offers a solution to anticipate changes in buildings and the needs of their users. " explains Guillaume Fournier-Favre, CEO of KONE France.
More than ever, KONE places the needs of owners, building managers and their users at the center of all its thinking to improve the travel experience. A detailed understanding of present and future needs is essential in order to offer adapted services and even to anticipate them. The era of "smart and sustainable building" is now within reach of all buildings
A response to the challenges of reversibility and sustainability of buildings
Throughout its life, a building may experience one or more changes of destination, resulting in changes in the uses and needs of its occupants. Residential residences are likely to turn into office buildings modifying attendance and travel flows within it. The services provided must then adapt to this new situation.
Anticipating changes and the needs of future users thus becomes crucial in order to make the building sustainable. The KONE digital platform gives elevators agility and adaptability, to all configurations and requirements for a mix of uses, throughout the building's life cycle.
The KONE DX digital platform: an ecosystem of innovative and tailor-made services
Thanks to this digital platform operated by KONE, building managers and owners can access an ecosystem of innovative services, which can be activated on request, but also connect their own existing applications for their building management needs. The elevator becomes an open system communicating with other building services and applications, to facilitate the management of installations and improve fluidity, comfort and safety.
